Current steel moonwatch is discontinued?

I was in an Omega boutique and the manager told me the current steel moonwatch is already discontinued. They will replace them with coaxial movements. Is that true? I missed the news I guess?

The rumor is Omega will be putting the 3861 into the moon watch...was supposed to be this year, but Covid happened. With all the hype snoopy is generating, I'd find it hard to believe if it doesn't get released next year.

I was at an AD this past week and they had hesalite and sapphire models available. Could be old stock, of course, but both current models were in the store available for purchase.

The Moonwatch with the 1861 is being phased out. That being said, how would you feel about learning that for the past several years, the 1861 had been produced by ETA and not Lemania? Oh, the things you don't know until you know....

Eta and Lemania are under the swatch group umbrella. The quality should still be there.
Do you own one? Did you notice any difference?

I didn't own a newer one but have seen the movements. There's barely a difference in the finish and the ETA movements have since different stamping, as I recall.

Current steel moonwatch is discontinued?

Given there is in practical terms no Lemania movement facility, I don't see the issue. All part of Swatch and we have the same calibre produced on same machines or better.

I visited the OB in Hamburg, Germany some weeks ago. Quite a vivid place with dedicated Patek, Rolex and Omega boutiques door to door. The lady told me that Speedys are going like crazy, but she wasn’t aware of discontinuation and didn’t seem to see problems with stock going forward. Just one voice. Oh and she said that they get flooded with calls and mails about the blue 50.
