What is interesting is I had to remove a link with the oyster bracelet but this jubilee does not need any links removed. I guess the bracelet is smaller with the jubilee

It would make a perfect one and only Rolex.

That’s awesome! Big congrats! Nothing like a great watch at MSRP!

That's awesome, glad you found a dealer you can work with. The Pepsi is a gorgeous watch - wear it in good health.

Congrats! I might try this ... but my wife doesn't like jewelry (no seriously, I've tried) the most expensive watch she'll let me buy her was a Tudor... don't get me wrong she's got diamond studs, some tiffany's, pandora, etc... but never lets me buy her anything super expensive. I guess I need a side girl to buy jewelry for, to qualify for MSRP prices :)

Enjoy!

But it is now funny how we have framed the narrative to be us being “awarded” a GMT master after spending thousands of dollars on jewelry.

This makes sense if you’re buying jewelry for someone. But honestly, it also makes sense for person who paid $6K above MSRP (ouch) who did not want to purchase any jewelry. Any chance all your pre-Rolex spend was more than $6K?

Last summer I bought a Pepsi GMT from a authorized Rolex dealer who would only sell for $6000 above MSRP , woke up the next day and returned due to buyers remorse (I didn’t want to reward a dealer selling at gray prices)
I put my name on a list at another Rolex dealer while buying jewelry for my wife as a anniversary gift, another visit I bought a new Breitling crocodile strap and a deployment buckle for myself. Over the next few months bought some more jewelry for wife as a birthday gift . My business was appreciated. Today I got the call and picked up a brand new Pepsi GMT at MSRP from this second dealer. I plan to buy all my Rolex watches from them.
I remember those discount days also. Congrats!

I would have absolutely turned in that original AD to Rolex and I would never return.

The owner of an AD I did business with for many years use to take hot pieces (daytonas, skydwellers, subs, gmts) right out of the box the day they arrived and would “sell” them to himself. Mostly to wear and to fuel his hobby of collecting but as pieces got more and more valuable on the grey market more and more pieces sat in the safe with his name attached sealed in coffins.

I had placed an order for a blue skydweller at debut and as a small mom n pop they did not receive one for some time. When they did the head sales guy I did all my deals with slipped up and said “ ya Doug we did get your watch in but it’s in the safe with ....... name on it and not to be sold. This infuriated me to no other as the wait was north of 1.5 years but I kept my cool and just let the story play out. Week or so later I got a call offering me the skydweller at msrp if I also bought a dd36 that had been in the case for north of 7 years. The price on the day date was very appealing but when added to the skydwellers 14k msrp it was just more than I could swing so I passed. Expressed a few more choice words with my sales guy and put the issue to bed.

Fast forward said owner stayed stockpiling hard to get pieces and they voluntarily supposedly gave up the Rolex line due to not being able to supply customers with watches and were sick of telling people nothing was in stock. He pulled his own plug before Rolex had the chance. Owner now has no ties to Rolex and a safe full of hard to get Rolex he can sell at his existing jewelry store at grey prices. Took them about a year to blow through n sell everything n they closed the doors n retired with a mountain of cash or watches they paid wholesale for and could be sold for double retail in the future.

* Rolex even after coming in and taking all the branding down to the wall clock n display trays let them keep the iPad and warranty card swipe plug in for 6+ months after they dropped the brand so if somebody bought a watch they could swipe n activate the warranty.

I believe it

I have a suspicion that some ADs have a second business selling their inventory under a different name and cutting out the middle grey seller. The OP's first AD is just more bold.
