Wahhh. I just asked the local Kosher market if they had Coke with cane sugar... they are all out and only had it during Passover!

The health food stores might have their own brand of cola with cane sugar.... but I know, it's not the same thing as a real coke.

Gee, I wish that would entice someone to buy our house. Our realtor called this evening to say one interested young couple couldn't get qualified for a loan - he was just out of law school and she just started a new job. Sigh. Still, the time is right to buy.

If you don't mind my asking, how much lower is your refinanced rate than your old one? I think, when we got this house 2 years ago (almost exactly) the rate was under 6 percent, and we thought that was pretty great.

Our original mortgage was 6% fixed, which we thought was good at the time. At 4.625%, it should take 27 months to recoup our costs. Probably sooner, as we plan to keep sending in the current monthly payment even though the actual amount owed will be much less.

Our agent mentioned that the potential buyers in this case had "some financial problems" in the past, too. And geez, we bought our first house in 1987 and I have no memory of how we financed it. We had both been working out of college for about 2 years, though. We thought $68,000 was an astonishing amount to pay for a house!

Lisa, it sometimes seems so crazy what things cost today. My parents in 1960 bought a beautiful house for $26,500 and now cars cost more than that!!!

No. I was originally going to get a 25 year, as that is where we are in our current mortgage. But, I got a 30 year instead. Monthly, we plan to pay what we are paying now on our current mortgage, which will be around $150 more than is required on the new mortgage. I know my wife's Dad out of college had a salary of $5,000.00. He was able to buy a house and support his family on that income. He was a C.P.A.
