Hmm, interesting..
Haven't seen a black dial Air-King in quite a while...I wonder if they still make them..... The blue dial is quite popular.. In any event, these watches both share the identical movement with the Explorer being slightly larger at 36mm than the 34mm Air-King.. Either one a great choice..

The new AK is in the new case, and will have the solid link braclet and new clasp.. The Explorer, is still in the old style case, with the old style braclet and clasp. oddly enough the old 1016 explorer stayed unchanged for longer than any other model, and the current Explorer is the only 36mm model thats not been upgraded .

you may want to take a look at the oyster perpetual if no date is not an issue. new band, clasp.. very cool dials in my opinion. both with the domed bezel and the WG bezel. 36mm
116000 is the ref number. swissluxury.com has pics of a great deal of them. just an option. also, only AK i have seen with black dial is a TT, with diamond hour markers.

You can't get a new Air-King in a black dial, but they did make one. If a black dial is what you are looking, they are available 2nd hand most likely.
Edit..I located one at Swiss Wrist that is NOS. 2005-06 was the last year of production of the black dial. This one is New Never Worn. http://www.perfectimepiece.com/index...rs=products/36
