DD40 advice. Need help!

Hi All.
Hoping to gather some opinions and pics from my forum friends.
I'm looking to add a 228238 to my current SS sports watch heavy collection.
I love the Silver dial with sticks but it's so sporty that it possibly defeats the purpose of adding a dressier watch.
I usually don't care for Romans but the Champagne dial with Romans looks very elegant.
I also like the champagne with diamond markers but worry that the diamonds wil push it over the top. They look really stunning on the rose gold chocolate! But rose gold is not the best for for me.
Can anyone share some shots on the wrist of any of the above? They are all beautiful as standalone pieces but I'd love to get a better idea of the vibe of each piece when worn. Unfortunately, it's tough to try them on myself at present.
Thanks for any help!

Get the one that initially caught your eye my man.

This is the SINGLE one rule I have learnt. Your heart always gravitates to the one it desired first. No point in settling for another dial or combo you just dont love the same.

I've got 2 of the ones in your list and they are life keepers for me. I'm a firm believer though that the first DD40 is a YG one.

Thanks for those shots.
I previously had a DD2 YG ivory dial with arabics and I let it go a few years back after taking a lot of heat from my GF for being overly flashy. In retrospect, I should have kept the watch and traded the GF! I miss it and want another YG DD.
I am really leaning toward the Champagne with Romans. It just a giant, sparkly lump of gold, and I like it.
That silver motif really is beautiful though! I think my next DD will be the 228206 blue motif dial but as you say, YG first. :)
Cheers and ty again. And grats on your beautiful watches.

BTW, I do know that this is probably the worst time to buy a Day Date in the history of Day Dates! 25% off PM DDs was 100% standard until recently.

Life is uncertain though, especially now with all the current craziness...I just don't feel like waiting a year (or more) to save a few thousand dollars that won't matter in the end anyway.

Agree 10000000000x.

As you say though its a bad time to buy any Rolex imho. Gold Rolex's have followed now and have skyrocketed in value. I picked up the YGDD40 for like $27k and the RG one for $28k.

Quite a significant jump to buy one today. In saying that just enjoy life its too short. Several $1000 here and there wont matter and you will get to enjoy the watches now. Never know if you wait another 12 months the way Rolex market is behaving these things might be $50k.

As Peter said above buy the watch with the dial color you are attracted to most (assuming you can found it for a price you can live with)

I don’t agree! What do you mean by ‘recently’- 1-2 years is a lot in Rolex terms. If you get get retail it’s pretty solid right now. I got my DD40 at retail a year ago - with the Rolex increase and increased demand for this watch I could sell and make 8-10k profit!

Solid advice.

I bought the 218238 to celebrate 10 years in business. (Should have kept it too!)
Next month will mark 15 years in business and I've decided to commemorate the occasion with the watch I really want.

Thanks all!

Go with Black baguette. This is going to be the ultimate one to serve your purpose.

I love RG DD40 but RG just doesn't blend with my skin color well so I chose YG.

I normally do not like romans but I REALLY like the deconstructed romans on the DD 40. Done in a modern way to be both classy and contemporary.

Personally, I'd stretch a bit and get one of the Platinum versions with romans.

I don’t think you can go wrong with any DD40. That said, unless you plan to own 2, maybe you are best off grabbing the 228206 now rather than a 228238 which you’ll likely want to sell for a 228206 in a few years. Just food for thought. We’re all enablers on here anyway.

Silver dial with Romans. I’m biased.

You won’t regret it. It’s amazing in person. The stock photos don’t do it justice.
