You have great rendering skills but the design is not for me. I much prefer the current version so would therefore not buy your design if it became the new one. The large rectangular hour markers and the new lines on the bezel make it too busy for me and draw my eye to them too much.

No thanks, it doesn’t need to be any bigger than it already is. Just shave off a couple of millimetres from the current design and I may buy it.

Unlike most this is actually a reasonable and interesting "fantasy rendition". Except for the size, but you can just imagine that differently. Thanks for the effort!

I like it, and the baton indices. The rendering looks more related to the Explorer than the actual Exp II.

This coming from an Exp II owner to boot.

Thanks everyone, like you am just guessing. In hindsight the batton markets make it look too much like a BALL or BREITLING.
Needed some work....
Here’s my second attempt:
MAXI DIAL, thicker & longer GMT hand, ORANGE coronet (between SWISS MADE) and how about a clear sapphire bezel over the BLACK markers?..

Case is too big and the hour markers are too big also.

Nice effort OP. It’s the best one I’ve seen so far.

I’m in agreement with others here, the indices are off making the dial a bit too crowded. IMO make them half the length or change them back to the original round plots.

I like the second rendering better. The 44mm case is not a deal breaker for me as long as the watch stays somewhat thin and flat to the wrist. I own both the Polar and Black dial current versions and would look at this watch as opposed to a ceramic bezel version. If you get a chance can you do a mock-up of a Polar. Thanks for your effort.

I like the baton marker version best. I have a few DJ2's simply because I prefer the larger baton style markers and your fist render gets a thumbs up from me. I'd buy one of those in a heartbeat. I'm getting bored of Rolex dot markers on their sports watches.

Not bad at all. Better than most of the mock ups I've seen.
Not a fan of the all stick dial though. I'd stick with the original markers.

The one on the left looks perfect. Rolex should definitely make that one.

I bet it would look good with a white dial too.

Well if Rolex is capable of producing indices even close to the quality of GS, well be in good company

I like the second attempt better. I always loved my 16610lv the maxi dial has always been a favorite of mine. I do have a soft spot for the older vintage explorer but always liked the expl 2 better because of the bigger lumen plots. But on the other hand. I'm a old timer and really took me awhile for me to warm up to these bigger case sizes over the years. Seams like everything getting over 41mm or bigger..lol Nice attempt on second try

Don’t like the odd hour markings, is too big and the domed crystal makes it too thick for me. Sorry

I actually love the bezel markings.

However, I think straight hands would work better with sticks. Just my two cents.

I would just go back to the 16570 and put Explorer II in red letters in the bottom part

Would be curious to see how this same rendering looks, except with square markers at 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, and 11 o' clock instead of all those rectangles. I think this would be more in line with the 1655 re-design.

Maybe they will simply put a new movement in and keep everything else the same.

BUT - they will offer a third dial option in green! (possibly changing the orange accents to white for this dial option)

Would love to see a render of this!

I agree 1% about the thickness - doesn’t need to be thicker.
My reasoning about the 44mm case was this.....

The most extreme versions in the SS sports ROLEXes are:
*DEEPSEA 44mm (extreme version of Sub and in between is the SEADWELLER RED 43mm),
*YACHTMASTER II 44mmm (extreme version of this range, 37mm, 40mm & 42mm),
*EXPLORER III 44mm( or EXPLORER II Anniversary), most extreme version of this range).

And I did do a ROLEX GREEN accented version but deleted it -

When I have some time I’ll do a POLAR EXP III.
Thanks for your feedback.

Why not a green 24 hour hand? Like Rolex usually acknowledges the 50th with some kind of green, think of the GMT. I don’t think it would be bad, and make it 41MM.

I still think they are going to do a different color ceramic bezel, orange or green.

Not always. Look at the SEADWELLER 126600. No green.
