Reputable Repair/Restoration
I have a 1952 Rolex Model 6234 Chronograph in need of repair and possible restoration. I have had some difficulty in locating a service facility that I have faith in and thought this forum might have some suggestions. The Rolex Service Center has no interest in tackling this due to "parts availability". Any suggestions for a firm that you trust and believe in? Thanks for your time.

I think that most of the experienced watchmakers could tackle the Valjoux movement. You want to seek a professional with experience in the details and cosmetics that can make or break a proper restoration.
Bob Ridley in Texas is well known as a premier Rolex restoration expert. You could give him a call and see if he is still doing these, or if he has a lead on other watchmakers still restoring older models.

Many thanks to "Tools" above. Based on your recommendation I contacted Bob Ridley and sent the watch to him for restoration. He had advised that these projects can be like going to the dentist - sometimes a cleaning is enough but occasionally a root canal is necessary. In my case it was multiple root canals - broken balance wheel, missing drive wheel, replace mainspring, stem bushing etc. This watch belonged to my father - a WWII B-24 captain and pioneer air traffic reporter in the SF Bay Area (Warren Boggess) - I was glad to find someone like Bob willing and certainly capable of taking on my project. Bob met my schedule of completing in time for my son's wedding last January - the results are stunning...
