Welcome to RolexForums. There is a decent serial number chart in the Reference Library forum that you can use to get an approximate date of manufacture. As for valuation, you can do some research by looking at auction sales, forum listings, and sold eBay items. If you'd like to elaborate a bit on what exactly you are looking for and why, that might make it easier to help you.

Maybe its the picture but those lugs look really short and rounded off. A picture of the side profile will help determine that.

Thanks for your comment. The watch was Dad's, but crown and stem were in bad shape, so it was sent to Rolex for refurb. It's pretty, but too small for my own taste (I've my own GMT Master) Son gets my watch, so possibly give to daughter. If she's not into it..(techie girl), then perhaps she'll sell it. I've seen the EBay offerings, but this seemed to be a place to get a 'realistic' estimate to pass along with watch. Not especially sentimental about this part of the estate...
