St. Patrick's Day humor

(True story, actually) I work in higher ed in the States, and one St. Patty's Day a girl in my department draws a leprechaun and pot o' gold on the big whiteboard calendar in the hall, but when she sees me, she suddenly stops in concern.

"I just wondered--" she says hesitantly. "I mean-- Well, as a person of Irish, descent, you don't consider this offensive, do you?"

I think fast, and after one perfect beat-- "Yes," I reply very seriously, "as a person of Irish descent, I DO find such stereotypes offensive...and if I weren't so damned drunk, I would get right up off this floor and punch you straight in the snoot!"

And then I just turn and walk off.
