BRILLIANT - Nick Jonas Sports Omega Speedmaster for SPACEMAN

https://www.professionalwatches.com/...d-in-spaceman/

Nick Jonas wears Moonwatch Canopus Gold in “Spaceman”

Spaceman is the name of the upcoming fourth studio album by American singer Nick Jonas, set to be released on March 12, 2021, through Island Records.

The “Spaceman” music video single premiered on Jonas’ official YouTube channel today, ahead of the official album launch tomorrow. In the space-themed video, Nick Jonas is seen wearing the new 2021 Speedmaster Master Chronometer Canopus Gold™ (Ref. 310.60.42.50.02.001), which launched in January.

Nick Jonas is portrayed as an astronaut in his video, and he duly chose to wear a Moonwatch — the definitive watch of NASA and space flight.

He’s wearing the watch very loosely on his wrist, which perhaps has something to do with the loose sweater he’s wearing. Nevertheless, Omega confirmed with us that Jonas does own the new Canopus Gold Speedmaster, which features Omega’s proprietary 18K white gold alloy.

The entire Speedmaster collection was redesigned for 2021 — and the white gold version with the silver-white dial is one of the rarer models. Retail is $45,300 as shown.

Spaceman Orbits With Omega Moonwatch

Omega is a genius at keeping its association with space exploration alive and today reveals another example with global superstar singer Nick Jonas slipping into a Speedmaster Moonwatch for his latest music video for Spaceman.

The song is described as a cosmic pop odyssey of space exploration by the Grammy- and Golden Globe-nominated artist.

Mr Jonas — one half of Jonas Brothers — wears a white gold Speedmaster chronograph, a 42mm model inspired by the 4th generation Moonwatch worn on the moon.

Product placement is generally subtle, but Omega gets its money shot at the 2 minute 19 second mark with an elegant close-up of the Speedmaster.

Omega’s Moonwatch appearance on the wrist of Mr Jonas during the Spaceman video comes just a week after he wore the same model on Saturday Night Live.

He was guest-hosting SNL wearing a brand new Speedmaster Moonwatch Master Chronometer in Canopus Gold, the first celebrity to be seen with the watch, during his monologue, musical performance and throughout the show in skits.

Indeed. Wish I could justify it, I'd have it in a heartbeat.

The money shot so you can enjoy the watch and skip the music video: https://youtu.be/V3cF_AuwZIc&t=2m35s

Awesome watch, just way too expensive.

I got to try this one on at the boutique a few weeks ago. It is indeed stunningly gorgeous. I went to try the Sedna as I thought I’d like that one more, and they had both models available. I left very underwhelmed with the Sedna and awestruck over the Canopus.

However, the price is just too high. If this was priced down towards the new Sedna model, I’d be tempted for sure.

On paper, the price is ridiculous. Off paper the price is ridiculous. On my wrist, I’ve never thought twice about what I paid for it :)

Honestly though, I’m fortunate to be able to afford it, but what I really want to say is that compared simply relative to other watches I’ve spent this much on, it really holds its own. I find myself just staring at it thinking, “damn, that’s a gorgeous watch”

Oh, this Jonas guy... nice placement I guess, but these days it’s so contrived I simply don’t care what celeb wears what. Just means the marketing team got to the right person. If he bought it himself and insisted on wearing it, that would be one thing, but considering how the omega marketing guy was “bragging” (in a professional way, it’s his job) on linked in about the last music video placement (the constellation), I’m pretty sure this is just an ongoing strategy. It’s fine though, when we start to see blinged out speedmasters (“moon ice”?) then we’ll really be in trouble...

FWIW the boutique said he himself reached out abt the watch and not the marketing team but who knows who’s behind what

What we know is he loves it apparently and what’s not to love

Have been wearing mine the last 2 days it’s a very classy piece

I'm not a Nick Jonas fan but I like the watch and it fits the song's title.

The Canopus Speedmaster, like the Platona, is one of those watches that I'd love to have but just can't justify. They feel amazing on the wrist and are so cool but, like a Bugatti, I'd have to have crazy money to even consider buying one. (A steel Sapphire Sandwich and a tube of Buffalos is a much more rational purchase, in my opinion.) That written, I should have bought the Platona at $55k that my AD offered me considering what they're going for now.
