The 1815 AC is a much newer model, and it gets a bit more criticism for the reason others have mentioned: Many people would prefer an automatic movement in a calendar watch (such as the Saxonia AC or the discontinued Langematik Perpetual Calendar). But both watches are generally well regarded and considered attractive and desirable. If I were you, I'd be looking more at how each of these watches might fit into what you already have -- so I would be thinking about things such as if I already have a calendar watch, if I already have a nice moonphase, etc.
Thanks for the above feedback. I have neither a moonphase or annual calendar, so either the L1 or 1815 AC will be adding something new to my collection. As mentioned in another thread I started, I have the 2020 Sub Date, GMT Root Beer, and ALS Saxonia Thin 37 currently. Also have an older Datejust that doesn't get much wrist time.
Anyhow, if picking up either the L1 or 1815 AC, I would trade in the Saxonia Thin towards it. The L1 is definitely iconic in the ALS lineup, and I love how the moonphase doubles as a day/night indicator. Also love the date feature, which looks like it would be fun to interact with. On the other hand, I like the legibility of the 1815, the countersunk subdials, and the railroad chapter rings. I think the button that lets you sync the day, date, and moonphase if the power runs out is ingenious. However, you cannot interact with that button too much without screwing up all your settings.

Sure, happy to help. Can you explain more about your last sentence? How would it screw up your settings if you push that button many times?

Say the watch lost power 3 days ago. You pick it up, and are supposed to click the button 3 times to allow the day, date, and moonphase to catch up right? What happens if you click it more than 3 times? Will you have to then individually reset each of the settings with a small button pusher?

You'd just have to press the button 29 or 30 more times to correct it but I don't see how you'd accidentally press it more times than needed.

Oh, yes, if you screw up you'd have to reset each setting individually or just pull out the crown (to stop the watch) and not wear it for a day.

I did that once with a Journe annual calendar and had to rotate the crown through 364 more days -- my hand practically fell off.

And if that's a concern, definitely don't get one of these!
