Just received my brand new SS Daytona white dial last night. Bought it here local AD and have them shipped out of state to save sales tax. The best part of this transaction is I have the old style clasp (which I want) so I got it for $9200.00 which is the old price.
I purchased the watch Wednesday (April 15) and they have a black dial "M" series for the same price. |

I was on a waiting list for nearly 6 years for my s/s Daytona.
Picked it up 2 weeks ago - paid list. In the UK, the difficulty I found was getting on a list. While in Sydney (3 yrs ago) there was an AD who admitted he had one in his safe and I could take it depending on my BID I reported the dealership to Rolex Geneva on my return. I do wonder if the lists are becoming more transparent during this economic turmoil. Waiting lists for the Deep Sea are similar and I currently await an elusive phone call from several dealers who have my name down for one. I wonder if I might pick one up when I'm in Chicago next month |

I saw a white face SS daytona at an Iowa AD yesterday, there was also a deep sea in the display window. He said that this is the first time there wasn't a waiting list for the ss daytona.

Well, my name was down as number 2 on a waitlist I have never been to - out in the country (so didnt really consider it), my name was down since around Feb/March, well today I just called to see if there is any movement and was told, my name is now number 1. The guy above me picked up his watch a few weeks ago. I was told, I might be waiting until the end of the year for it. Its fine by me, I just hope I am truly number 1 on the list now.

I France you are still looking at 2 years , anyway most AD here pass on SS Daytona's to their friends who put them on Ebay or in other shops with a 20 % mark up and split the profit .

Its a shame they do that in France, I dont mind waiting about1 year, but 2 would be too much. I just hope they send the AD (my name is on the list at 1) more than 1 a year!

I'm through Heathrow every 3 weeks on average for last 6 years, I've never seen an SS Daytona once. I'm sure the ones you saw were White Gold. However, I've now turned down 2 from AD's in Spain, they are not rare there. In the UK there's a false market been created by the grey dealers holding a monopoly, in particular the Burlington Arcade boys who are holding large stocks of SS Daytonas for mega-bucks... Bar Stewards! |

I think it is likely it could happen throughout the world, I find it interesting that they are all over the USA and very very few in safes of ADs in the UK. |

Dayton's
interest thread!!
I'm based in the U.K and I've phoned almost all the AD's and none of them have it. However, if you call a Grey dealer they have them.. 7 days...wait!! |

That is true, I just would like to get one from an AD, if grey market is the way to go, most people recommend tempoking as well as others.

Did you order white or black face? My AD told me that they don't get a choice from Rolex, but you can get a dial change for extra £££. AJF |

Lol!! Imagine that!! I would like a white face, but I would be happy with a black, the person above me got a white face. The AD just takes whatever is given, they are still a very very very rare model from an AD.

I believe, but you will need to check on previous TRF posts, that they pushed the price up when they introduced the GMT IIc clasp by about £350 (just for the newer clasp). This was separate to the other price rises across the line due to the weak £pound. AJF |

"Blowers" have a number of them for sale in the UK, but they're all over £7k.....
They are not uncommon, it's just that many people put their names on the list and as soon as they get them they sell for a profit. Personally I find this despicable as they are preventing the 'real' owners from getting them at AD prices and without waiting. People who will wear/keep/cherish them for what they are and at the price they're 'supposed' to be sold for. |

my local AD hasn't gotten one in years. they couldn't get me one last year when my brother bought a 50th sub. YMMV (your mileage may vary).
years past, i couldn't get on a list unless i was a longtime loyal customer anywhere. in this economy you can definitely get one. i was actually debating getting one here vs in switzerland. glad i got mine there. wished the exchange rate would have been better but it was still cheaper than here. from what i'm told, the wait in switzerland is still 4-5 years.

It seems like just some parts of the US have plenty of SS daytonas while here in the Boston area, there are none. I checked recently and they said there is still a waiting list but certainly not as long as before. At the same time, there are not many AD here in the Boston area so I cant really say for the entire NE. I saw some at tourneau and they are asking for rip-off prices (at nearly $15k for a white dial 116520). Thats just ridiculous. Does anyone know of any other AD other than the one in Prudential Center?

I'm in the UK and put myself on a list and I am first on the 2012 list!! The AD says they get 5 per year, here's hoping there are a few drop outs in the current climate!
Saying that, I am going on holiday to Florida (Orlando area) this year so can anyone recommend a good AD for me to try? |

The AD I was at yesterday had two of them. A black and a white... They have had them for awhile. They also had (2) Deep Sea's.
