New Member - looking for buying advice
Hello all
I am a new member and am currently looking to purchase a Milgauss (lain glass, black face) which retails at £3,860 here in the UK. I am going to the US in June as was wondering whether it would be cheaper to but one there so could anyone tell me the prices there. Also any advice on whether it is possible to get discounts from AD's would be appreciated. I have done some research and the price of the Milgauss in Singapore at an AD is SGD 7,300 which equates to around £3,350 a saving of £500. Or should I look to the secondhand market? Many thanks |

Well it depends on whether you want a brand new watch or one slightly used.
There are good buys around on the internet. The UK pound may go a lot further in asia e.g. Singapore, Hong Kong and even Australia. You need to look around the internet a bit and then do some price comparisons.

Thanks for the quick reply, do you know if AD's ship to the UK from these markets or are they restricted to sell in local markets only. If looking online, can you recommend any reputable sellers as I understand AD's are not permitted to sell online.

There are discounts available in the UK, but you'll need to shop around. Best advice I got was to go to an independent AD and not one who's part of a chain. e.g. Goldsmiths, Mappin & Webb, Watches of Switzerland, etc. WoS wouldn't budge on the full price so I phoned a few independents and the first one I spoke to said I would need to visit the shop personally, the second one offered me £260 off and the third offered me £360 off. I called the second one back, because they were nearer, and they offered to match the £360 discount, which meant I paid £4000 for my GMT-IIC.

I am now the proud owner of a GMT IIC purchased from 082013 right here off the forums at a great discount to the retail price (which may be a greater discount if the rumoured price increase comes in, if it doesn't then it was a great sales tactic as it convinced me)
I will post some pics of my watch if anyone is interested. |
