WG Submariner
Hello Guy's and Gals'
Tried on a WG Blue Sub 116619 at AD, blue is a nice cobalt color-not smurf blue at all. Just can't get past the 29,800 list price, even at 40% off cost is 17,880. I really cant see the value, Is it just Me?? |

Beautiful watch, wish it was SS instead of WG. Way too much money!

The new hotness!
That is the grail Sub and blue is my favorite color. Patiently waiting for the black SS...this one I will probably buy brand new unless there is something that comes across in the gray market. |

Check out pic's in InSync watches magazine April 2009 issue, page 134. Very accurate color representation.

Gold watches just cost a lot more. Many agree that it's not worth it, and cite the similar look to SS. Personally, I disagree, but there's no getting around the added cost and who can fault folks for not finding it worth it.
Just like you can't find the cool dials on the SS Daytona, you won't get them on the SS Subs. Those Rolex boys aren't stupid. So it really boils down to what you want in the complete package. I always loved the Bluesy Sub and you have to go TT or 18k to get it. |

Hey! You're not just paying a lot for a similar looking metal, you're also getting one that will scratch and ding much easier too!

It's been available to buy for only a few months and costs nearly $30K in the middle of a near depression. You expecting to see hundreds of them here? So where are all the other new 18kt gold Rolexes? Two YM-IIs here after over a year from release.

You said "this watch just come and go" whatever that means. It hasn't even "come" yet. Not defending it, but so few people have even seen it in the flesh, how can we render a judgement on the color combo? Here's a post that asserts the blue looks good and isn't "smurf."

I wonder how much gold is in a all gold subbie? 3k USD? Add that to 6K and you get 9K worth of watch. But, there sure is a lot of ROLEX, though!

Never really a strong link between cost and price in the luxury goods market. You should see what it costs Ferrari to make a car that thousands of people line up to spend a $400K on --even worse. |

Still looking to see one in the flesh, want to see the color for myself before I decide if I like it or not.

I had and sold one, couldn't get on with the blue. It was nowhere near as nice as the blue of the current 16613 :(

I've seen the WG Sub for real. Undoubtedly, it is a very beautiful watch as pictured above.
But I find it hard to justify how anyone could throw down that kind of dough on a Sports watch that looks like Steel and then on that colour which is all wrong as compared with the original Bluesy. I suspect this could be Rolex's biggest white elephant out of Basel. JJ

I have seen it twice, even had the guts to try it on ....and I still hated the color!

Here's what I see happening: When the new SS sub comes out (mega case), people will be buying aftermarket dials and bezels and you get the same watch (from a visual perspective) at much less. Can't do that with yellow gold, regardless of whether you like yellow or not. BTW, if the center links are brushed, they can be polished.
