No, not so keen on the new style dial. I don't know if it's the gold surrounds, or the bigger hands on the new one that put me off, but the old true maxi dial without the gold surround is perfect.

In fairness Alcan - with the rise of dive computers very few divers continue to use a watch as their PRIMARY dive instrument.

In reality, the vast majority of Rolex dive watches never go below 2 meters in a pool.

I have a Sea Dweller with smaller lume markings and have no problem reading it under water - albeit, I only make it to 30 meters and not the 1.2 km it was designed for.

I also wear it to the office!

I don't think the GMT and Yachtmaster were designed for divers. Also I would bet that over 95% of people buying the submariner are not divers. It might be a different story for the DeepSea Sea-Dweller.

i love them both... 40mm dial and up is the most important thing.... the 36mm unisex dial is just too small to read

I love the LV maxi with the wg surrounds.

I really love the vintage maxi with no surrounds...they are a thing of booty!

I think the fat minute hand annoys me more than the big markers. Either way, if I had to choose one or the other, I would probably choose the smaller style dial markers and thinner hands.

Agreed, on my SUBs I prefer the standard dial. The maxi would have too much Luminova and less of WG surrounds, cluttering up the dial with the large markers.

No problem with readability with the standard dial!!
