1680 Broken Crown

Hi there,

I’m looking for help with my 1680.

I haven’t worn the watch much in the last few months but I thought I’d get it out today.

After winding and then setting the date I went to set the time and the crown stopped working.

Currently, lots of resistance in first position in winding direction but spins freely the other way. In the second position, hands don’t move when attempting to set but move backwards if move crown wrong way but I have avoided doing that or winding due to resistance.

Any advice??

When the crown is pulled out there is a set of pinion gears that need to engage and disengage for the various functions.

These parts are tiny and may become dislodged or broken. If pushing in and pulling out a couple of times doesn't align things, it may need to be taken apart to assess the issue.
