Sea dweller triple 6 spider
Hey folks,
I have just purchased this guys from a guy that I trust. Everything looks really good about the watch and we tried to figure out if the hands are the original hands. Obviously it is tritium and nothing else seems to have been replaced and looks original. Do you know if watches that the hands stayed relatively white compared to the indices? Do you see anything unusual? Thanks for the help! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1S-W...w?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cr-...w?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bc8...w?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bc8...w?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NuL...w?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MbF...w?usp=drivesdk |

I'm not saying they are or aren't original, I'm thinking that's how he's coming to his assessment. |

I am wondering if it is possible that there will be a mismatch like that or that it is very uncommon... Any other noticeable issues with the watch? |

Am posting below the pictures from your links above for the benefit of others: Could be that the hands are original / aged differently, remaining whiter than the hour markers? On my S serial 16610 below, which owned since new (jan 1995) and still has original dial and hands, some parts of the hands looks whiter than others or even the hour markers. Typically if the dial and hands were left alone from the factory they would age in a very similar fashion. |

Do you think it is possible that everything is in its original state then? Thanks |

OP, post this in the "vintage" section. There are a lot of experts on that forum.

Is it me or are some of the markers warped? (2:00 index)
OP, you should have done more research before purchasing imo. I'm not a tritium expert but the hands do look off. I'm sure more knowledgeable folks can chime in. |

My 16610 1990 Submariner has hands that are lighter than the indices.

I also think the hand looks off. But the experts will have more insight on that.

The hands exhibit qualities of being relumed - and they were done poorly at that. The lume is not even at all within the hands.
There is nothing wrong with having relumed or repaired hands since many vintage watches have had their hands repaired - except, when you pay for tritium hands, I would expect that you should get what you paid for.

The colors can certainly age differently on dial and hands, but this difference just feels like too much for a watch of this age IMO. Also, the lume in the minute hand looks wonky and uneven, like paint spilling out onto the metal surface. Have you looked under a loupe.
