Beware of watchesworld.com !
Let me start with first that the buying experience might be different to the selling experience, and the whole process started with a very responsive chat with Benny back and fourth on WhatsApp, which then went downhill very fast.
I wanted to sell a watch that pretty much everyone banked on to be discounted recently, me not too much, but decided to sell on the 7th April. Shared pictures, details, everything and was offered a price for it. I went back and said that this is slightly below than what I've been offered by another company, and I was instantly been told, on the 8th April that they can pay me the higher price. I agreed on this, and been told, a person called Francis will reach out to me. On the 12th April Francis reached out to me on whatsapp and on the 14th April an offer was made which was also written accepted with another watch added to the deal. I asked how to complete the deal. Haven't heard back until next day, when I've been told we can meet once he is back from travelling, which said to be 2 days from Thursday. On Saturday I have messaged again, but again, further delays, only can do Monday. On Monday I messaged again, chat back and fourth and we agreed on payment terms, and that we will meet end of the day. Clarified that from their end, both of the watches thought to be new (only one was, and it was never said its new both), shared pictures and we agreed on a reduced price on the second watch. Couple of very weird messages around they prefer cash, or do wire much later, which I couldn't understand why, I let the reader decide the reasons behind. 5 minutes before my departure, Francis sends me a message that they no longer honour the deal as the price of the watch is changed. The whole deal was clearly delayed due to see what is the market doing, however as the agreement was made, written over the form they use for communication, it is very poor creditability to back out a deal like this. Annoyingly, the other company only offered marginally less money (£500 less), and if I know I will be up for a ride with Watchesworld, I would have just go with that business. Buy from them, if they are cheap (I guess probably similar stories like mine is the reason why they are slow on sales), but to sell to them, be aware... |
