ALS 1815 Chronograph
I have went through quite a few watches in the past 5 years Panerai, IWC, Rolex mostly steel daytonas and still have my hulk, Seiko ( really miss my seiko ) but have been thinking to just make a purchase of a piece that is real haute horology.
Price tags on ALS are steep in comparison to what I have owned but if anyone has some input if they made the jump to ALS also would be appreciated. |

ALS 1815 Chronograph
It will be more of a watch for you; no one else will know what you have.
From ALS my fab is Lange one in gold with white or cream dial. |

Have to be seen in-person to be appreciated. I had no idea why anyone would spend so much on a watch until I experience Lange in-person. The finishing makes most other brands look like 5 year olds are building their watches :)

I think you are going in the right direction.
Recently I was hit with the bug for a Patek. I ventured into NYC to visit some boutiques and have some fun. While the aura of the Patek is definitely there - the Lange just felt more substantial and solid. Winding a Lange 1 and seeing the fluid like motion of the power reserve indicator is pretty incredible. I definitely recommend seeing and handling them in person - this was a game changer for me - completely switch gears. Go to a boutique and have some fun. I haven't pulled the trigger yet - close though and probably soon. Personally I have been leaning more towards watches on straps and pieces that most would term 'dress watches'. After years and years of having sports watches these just feel right. They fit under the cuff and attract far less attention.

Brilliant pieces in all metals and combinations those 1815 Chronographs.
Indeed the price is steep, albeit fair in comparison with others; which in my humble opinion, offer less fascination. |

Lange's manual chronos are the Apex predators in that category. Bar none. Truly breathtaking pieces. I'm partial to the rg black dial, stunning.

Lange is in a class of one. Independent-like manufacturer with finishes and complications, but the stability of Richemont ownership. Datograph Lumen is my grail watch.

In my opinion, Panerai, IWC, and Rolex are all overpriced at retail while Lange is vastly underpriced at retail. These brands can't really be compared. Food for thought: a new steel Daytona is selling for the same amount as a new 1815 Chronograph. This is insane.
