What do you mean by “placing an order for..”

Have you already paid up front for the piece?

If you had asked 6 months ago it would be a different story. Since January they've gone nuts and are basically unobtanium at this point. I bit the bullet and bought grey a few weeks ago. I'm happy with it and the price still keeps climbing.PXL_20210415_190208778.jpg

My dealer had confirmed allocation for this piece for 2021 . All he had to do was to wait and so who among his preferred clients will be interested

Basically I told him I want it and he then placed order
On my last PM piece he took a small deposit
On this one he did not take any deposit since he knows me now so well for a while
After placing order he called me to confirm that it has been placed
His estimated time frame probably 4-6
Month

This is what I suspected. Good for you! Hope it arrives sooner.

I'm looking to order a PM Daytona myself and cannot find an AD who is willing/able to order one for me. Would love a reference to your AD.

I don't think you can order these. At least that is what my AD said, allocation only.

I'm sure an AD may take a deposit, but I don't think Rolex is filling orders for any Daytona, SS or PM.

Last summer I have seen one at an AD, Downtown Toronto. Just sitting in a display window... not sure how long that lasted.

Didn’t have to order, was offered one and said yes. I didn’t even want it but my buddy was dying for one so passed it on to him. I was happy to build my spend history and get some Amex points from the sale. One thing to mention is that my AD knows I’m not a flipper and that I told them this is going to my friend, gave them his name and info so they can google and do whatever they wish. Honesty works with good AD’s.

So was John Mayer right in 'Talking Watches', or did he create this situation? Interesting thought, isn't it?
