Spec of dust from nowhere

Hi all,

My black bay has been in a drawer for the past 3 weeks...and to my surprise when I took it out to wear it, it had 2 new specs of dust on the 7 and 11 o’clock pips.

Has anyone ever seen this????

I had the same thing happen with my 16570. Take it back to your AD or a watchmaker and have them blow it out. It’s an easy fix.

I’ll be frank, they didn’t come from nowhere.

And I wouldn’t say that taking it to your AD and having them disassemble the watch, remove the crystal, open the dial and blow out the dust is ‘an easy fix’

Would the ad just remove the bezel and Crystal or would he have to do a complete disassembly to get to the dial??

Remove the crystal? What? No. They'd take off the caseback, remove the crown, pull out the movement and that's how they'd get to the dial. This should take any experienced watchmaker only a few minutes.

Yes. If it’s dust that’s as easy a fix as there is. Well maybe other than changing a battery.

My Sub C Date has a piece of dust in it. I bought it in 2016 and I noticed it in the second week. Not long after I didn't see it anymore, and I couldn't find it, not even with a loupe.

Another issue I have with mine is the bezel doesn't align perfectly, it's about 1/8th short of hitting the 12 marker. Disappointing, but hey, these are built by hand so I live with it. I could have sent it in but I decided not to.

Maybe give it a few more weeks, and maybe it'll just disappear one day to the edge of the dial's abyss (at least, that's what I hope happened to mine..). If after a month or two it still bothers you, then by all means just send it in. It's a quick fix, but it takes a long time because they have to check-in the watch and go through the motions.

If you ever get the watch serviced in the future, just bring it up and they'll take care of it. I have another 5 years or so, but once I do, I'll ask them to double-check the dust and re-align the bezel. No biggie to me

Happened with my two week old DJ41. I sent it to RSC because I couldn’t I I see the dust and consequently, couldn’t enjoy the watch. I sent to RSC and while the wait sucked, it came back perfect and I’m in love with the watch again.
