Clasp question
Hi all, it’s been a while since I’ve posted mainly because I haven’t had a Rolex for a while.
The question I have today is about the clasp on the vintage oyster bracelets. I am about to receive a 6426 oyster precision with the clasp that has the Rolex crown at the edge of the clasp. I had a 6694 oysterdate precision and it had the crown stamped into the clasp. At what point did they transition? |

Different bracelets made within completely different eras.

If you order a new bracelet for the forst one you will get the same as at the second one.

I believe it was around 1969-1970 when the Oyster 7836/7835 was introduced with the off-center coronet clasp stamping and the 6251 Jubilee changed the model's clasp stamping to where it also had the off-center coronet clasp stamping. The Rolex SWISS clasps with the coronet at the tip of the clasp were discontinued when the newer clasps were introduced.

Clasp question

With this in mind, would it be common for a 1972 watch to come out with the older clasp? I’m asking to try and find out as much as I can for when the watch was made. Or if there is a database on serial numbers as to when they were made? |

Not specific to clasps, but this might help your research:
