Collection advice

Hi guys,

I am hopefully going to be acquiring am AK 116900 in the near future. My current collection consists of an Aquaracer, Monaco Quartz, Breitling Colt Skyracer and an old Rado Sintra Multifunction. Sadly and as you will see, they're all quartz. Had I known now what I know then, I would have saved longer and bought more wisely.

Having done loads of Tudor/Rolex research in anticipation of hopefully being able to acquire the Air King, I've massively fallen for the Tudor Pelagos 41mm black dial.

I have no issue seeing the back of the Rado even though it was my first 'nice' watch bought 18 years ago, reason being I'll never wear that as the Monaco is similarly dressy. The Aqua has sentiment value as it was bought with inheritance money. The Breitling I like as a beater and the Monaco is a beautiful dress watch although I would hope to one day trade up for a chrono auto model.

My question really would would you do? The AK is a cert subject to availability and I kind of think that, a Pelagos and the Monaco would have most bases covered although I am also very fond of the Colt.

The Pelagos is a fantastic watch. Buy the one you like the most. Don't let the crown decide, that has no real meaning.

If you like the Pelagos, go for it. It's an awesome watch and worth every penny. You can always buy a Rolex in the future if you decide you'd like to.

The AK is an absolute cert if one becomes available and I don't need rid of any of my current ones to buy. My question is should I exchange all my quartz ones for a Pelagos maybe with the exception of the Monaco for the reasons stated in my op? Thoughts?

Pelagos might be suited for guys with slightly larger wrist, try it on at a jeweller first. Otherwise, it might be a better choice to hold out for a Rolex and live without regrets =)

Just to be clear I'm definitely getting the AK. I'll wait as long as that takes and the funds are there waiting. My question is should I sack off all my others maybe apart from the Monaco and trade up for the Pelagos to have in addition to the AK. I'm 6'6" and 110kg or so but watch wrist not huge at around 7.25".

There is your answer. Though you can't go back and change what's happened, now you do know, so...moving forward, now you know.

If in doubt don’t sell. If you wait long enough you’ll know the answer without asking.

Not a fan of any Tudor offerings, mainly because I feel they lack a certain visual depth. I would definitely try them in the flesh and think about it, because I feel they look better in pictures than real life.

I am very conscious my original post was garbled. Still getting used to Samsung and tieing up loose ends as I leave my job tomorrow. What I meant to say is if I had known then what I know now, I would have bought more wisely!
