You are assuming that there is nothing stashed at the AD back in the safe?

A large retailer where I live only had THREE Rolex yesterday.
All the other cases / brands they carry were heavily stocked. Two DJ with MOP dials and diamonds, and a DD. They said "we get a few Rolex from time to time We are hoping for a good stock before the Fall holiday shopping crunch." (This is the affluent area of Scottsdale, Arizona.) There are quite a few large Rolex display cases, all empty. Sad. That has to instill a "meh" impression for all who wander in wanting to see a Rolex.

Don’t judge a Rolex AD by its display case

I have sort of ignored the empty cases threads but after this past weekend my outlook has changed. I was in another state nearby and on a whim stepped into one of only four or so AD’s in this southern state. I wasn’t expecting much but the “Rolex section” was the saddest one I’d ever seen, literally one women’s piece in the middle of three empty cases. Also it was old school, not a separate area, just some cases stuffed between ones full of jewelry. Their Tudor case (single) wasn’t much better. The common Black Bays and two grey dial Bronze but none of the new line or less typical stuff.
And other than the guard at the door who greeted me none of the three persons playing with their phones even looked up. The only busy SA had a family looking at some jewelry. I can be jaded at my own store because they will get me what I want in due time, but as a first time buyer I would be totally turned off by the empty cases. I wouldn’t care that other people were buying them before they hit the case, I would just think this store/ this brand doesn’t want my business. I don’t have the answer but for the first time I am seeing this as unsustainable in the long run. |

Yes they probably have all the hot watches in the safe.
I saw someone got his SS daytona abt 2mths ago but he bundled those with a dozen other watches (hublot, iwc, jlc, piaget). Nothing was on the Rolex display except 28mm and few 36mm TT. |
