1861 - a year on

Next week will mark a year on with my loved 1861.
The watch was on my wrist almost 24/7.

First time tried this model way back in 2016 and loved the look and feeling, fast forward june 2020 I took the plunge and after several visits to various AD trying SMP300, AT putting the Speedy on my wrist was again instant love.

I will not enter in the moon story everyone knows the story and so on but I remember being a kid watching space shuttles getting on and back to Earth.

Did it fill the expectations?
Short answer : Yes

Didnt want to make a topic out of it until the year mark to see if I'm still in, you know the feeling first you like & love then time pass and everything fades away.

I have now besides the original strap, 2 bracelets (Forsnter FL) (US1450), 3 leather and 1 OEM Omega Nato
Not bad at all

Accuracy was all this time +2.5 / +3.7 measured on a span of more than 350 days, usually monthly

The look apart from 1 time I have used Poly Watch to clear the plexi which is again perfect, it is like new

Usually it is under radar but was noticed always by watch lovers including guys who had 10x or more on their wrists, and a great start of conversations

If I would buy again? 10 times out of 10.

I know is not for everyone but for those who really like to have a piece of history and appreciate the simplicity and almost perfect balance this is a true treat on the wrist, I find myself even after wearing this 24/7 still looking down on my wrist admiring and be happy with it.

let some photos speak

Great review of a very cool and iconic watch. I had owned the 1861 and the 1863 several times over the years but never bonded with it and moved on. I bought the 1861 back within the last year and have found it to now be one of my favorite watches. I like the bracelet and strap options and keep it mostly on my Forstner Flat link bracelet. I have a lot of watches from many brands but if I shrunk the collection down the Speedmaster would be one of the watches that would be there in the end.

The perfect watch. I have said it many times before and I’ll say it again. No collection is complete without an iconic Speedmaster.

at first i thought it was an outdated watch but later on realized it's one of the toughest and reliable watches ever. mine is just +1.5 sec/day

the fact that it was approved and went to the moon should stand on its own
