Above all true but the voting thus far appears to lean more heavily on the 5711 and 5712.

5711/1A, 5712/1A and 5990 (A or R) - these are my three favorites from current production.

5976 is the ultimate Nautilus, but way too expensive right now.

Not on the list, but my vote is for the 5713 because it is the only one I have and the only one I will ever need. I am never selling it, but the fact that it is now selling for at least twice what I paid for it (MSRP) four years ago is icing on the cake.

How far has the 5712 come in the last few years, was never nearly as popular as the 5711 before with its once weird asymmetrical dial.

Surprise to see 5712 overtakes the poll. I like its thinness and quirky dial but cannot see how the 5711 which has the essence of the original Genta design gets second place to 5712. If I want complication, I would pick up the 5740G but then of course I am biased.

5712 vs 5711 just comes down to the WR for me.
The 5712 has the 240 micro rotor that I love but it also has a snap back.

It's a strong case that the 5712 became the most popular Nautilus after it came.

I can't recall the 5711 on the back cover of the Patek magazine, but the 5712 was on many.

I understand the exposure in a magazine is primarily to move the more slow moving pieces. Of course there is no need to advertise the 5712 now but it used to be a slow mover.

It was never a slow mover, never. Why you think so is beyond me.

Unless you're eqating it to other desirable models that enthusiast collectors desired like 5070 and 5970, most of those people were after more complicated watches.

And as far as the Patek magazine goes, it's issued quarterly to owners who buy from an AD, the only watch that's on more back covers is the ladies 24, hardly a slow mover.

The 5712 was released in 2006, and up until 2016, I still see them in display cases. I'm not the only person here who has observed that. Do check out some of the older threads.

The ladies 24 are commonly seen in the ADs' cases until today.

Maybe we have different definition of slow moving, which is fine.

If I'm Patek, I just don't see the point of using my precious magazine space (which I give away to clients for free) to promote popular models. These days I see the likes of WorldTime and 5905 in both paid and free advertising materials. These are very nice watches but not the most popular, which ties back to my point.

Up until about 3 years ago, a 5712 is relatively obtainable from AD or salon. I inquired about a 5711/1a at about that time and was told that it would not be happening for me but if I want a 5712, it can happen.

This is just like SS sports watch. Up until recent years, only SS Daytona was unobtainium. Most of the SS Rolex sports watch I got even had a small 5-10% discount.

And Ladies 24 is a hot seller? I guess everything is a hot seller now. I just found out the 7118/1a we got last year from AD as our first purchase is now also a hot watch.

I have always maintained that the 5712 is the best stainless Nautilus.

I got sucked into Nautilus when I first put one on my wrist....I didn't get it just looking at pictures etc. But after owning the 5712 and 5726 in stainless....I pretty much lost the thought that 5711 is a must in my collection....I'd love to get one to complete it on the Nautilus end but it's not a necessity in my mind anymore.....I think the 5712 is the better watch to be honest for sure.

I'm not surprised, the 5712 is part of the iconic Nautilus line, and also the very first ref. (the 3712 the year before) to actually house a complication. It is a very unique watch due to the dial. I personally find the 5711 dial empty due to the use of batons, the dial of 5167 is much more balanced since they used hour indices.
