1.8M serial 1675 GMT w/amazing patina

Hi guys,

I'm being offered this long e 1675 from the late 60s. Price is $27,000 (a bit expensive I guess).

It's got really nice patina.

Killer watch with killer price. Case has been recut and the insert is definitely not period correct, might be a blueback which would detract from value.

27k seems a bit high.

Also, it may be the lighting/crystal, but the lume at 8 o'clock looks slightly damaged.

It looks like a zinc sulfide dial (seen in 1.6-1.8 SN I think and are green) though. They still glow a bit under UV, which is pretty cool.

Is the bracelet at least a 7206/58?

Looks like a 7836 which would not be correct either!

Agreed blueback insert and everything else commented here. This watch is not worth $27k, maybe 15K...

That price point really doesn’t feel right ($10k+ too high even with b+p), unless I’m missing something — in which case please enlighten me :)

Hey guys,
The seller is from europe, vintagewatchparis, never bought from him. I'm looking to buy a watch, but beforehand I try to get honest reviews outside the seller. If the watch was brand new I wouldn't be asking, but since it's vintage and I've made some mistakes in the past I'm looking not to repeat them.
This watch comes with B+P although the seller hasn't posted them. The pics are from his Instagram. He has some amazing pieces although I feel everytime you ask him something, I feel like he doesn't like it. I have a friend who is also a seller from Europe and has told me the same thing about him. But if you look at his past inventory, nice looking pieces in almost perfect condition.

Just keep posting here with candidates. Finding the right piece takes a bit of time and is a lot of the fun, you will learn a lot. You've learned here that insta is great and there's lots of watch porn on the platform, but anyone can post a pic of a watch, it doesn't mean they sold it or ever even had it in their hands.

I've seen the vintagewatchparis insta and they charge a bit of a premium compared to everyone else. Which might be what you're paying for, given experience and expertise?

I'm not as well versed as the other peeps on the forum but 27k seems pretty steep especially when I recall recently reading that a rare radial dial 1675 was on Hodinkee's site for a fairly similar price.

Hey Alex, hope you're well.

Interested to learn, how can you tell if a case has been recut?

Those chamfers are ridiculously clean and sharp for a watch from the 60s.

Recut, and more than likely from the very late 60s, like 69.

It’s common sense. How can a case look that clean on a 50yr+ old watch. I bet if you look between the lugs, you will have your answer.

That was taken at Bonhams Monterey in ‘19, belonged to a dear friend and was sold at auction. Had an unforgettable drive on PCH in that car.

Thank you all.
Just an update: the watch was sold. Not to me haha I took your comments seriously and avoided it. Based on your comments it wasn't worth it (at least to me).
This id part of the journey, search, learn and buy or not.

I am tempted every now and then to sell all my watches for one ; )

They had one on top of the Ford plant for years. I always wondered what happened to that car when they took it down. Always dreamed of owning one when they became “cheap enough” but alas they caught on before that ever happened lol

Amazing they had a hard time selling these back in the day

Yes I agree with that. You should be looking at an insert with a fat font. This could affect the value by a fair bit.

I like it but certainly not for 27K! Is it a full set?

Thank you all. I didn't buy it. I appreciate your help.
The dealer sold it already, it was complete set but since I walked out, I never got the chance to see the box and papers.

sorry, i was curious about your comment and would like to enquire further on what you meant?

I'm just getting into vintage watches myself and I heard alot about fake cases from Vietnam that may be passed off as genuine cases. I've even read that these cases even have fake serial numbers and model numbers THAT CAN BE CUSTOMISED ()
