Polished Center Links

Has anyone had their DJ 36 polished center links buffed out? I’m think about doing this and maybe buffing out more side case polish too. I’d like the bracelet and case to look comparable to the OP. What you’d be the best way to get this done? Any ideas? Thanks.

You mean you want to brush the PCLs? Send to a professional and they can do that easily.

I’ve seen this done but it’s not my cup of tea. I think a lot of people here will tell you that changing the true original design of that watch is a mistake. If you want brushed center links, get an OP or explorer. No need to destroy the Datejust in the process.

It's an easy thing for a professional to do if that is what you want. Send it to a company that is competent in cosmetic restorations, such as Rolliworks or LAWW. A few members here have had other Rolexes with PCLs brushed and while not everyone likes it, I think it has looked good on the watches I've seen it done on.

I think I would go with an Oyster Perpetual before doing that. The PCLs fit the DJ very well imo. But if you like it, it can be brushed with the correct grit sandpaper and then also polished back out if you don't. It will remove metal each time though. I wouldn't touch the case. If you do a professional is a must.

Seriously?

Then I guess Rolex themselves destroyed thousands of Datejusts with brushed bracelets straight from the factory! (Ref 16200). They made these for many years.

That’s a rather nice look, utilitarian, smart and functional, I like these a lot! In fact, I’d like Rolex to resurrect that design, it is superb.

Thanks for sharing the pictures.

I much prefer the look of brushed center links for the Oyster bracelet on the Sub, GMT, and Explorer. However, on the DJ, I prefer polished center links.

At first I wasn’t a fan, but on the DJ PCL just works!
