Tudor Black Bay 58 18k

Hi,

I don't think i have seen ANY incomings of the Black Bay 58 in gold on this forum, so I'd like to see if there are some fellow watch aficionados who have any experiences with this watch.

Lately I've been quite intruiged by this particular model of the Black Bay Family. Obviously it has some controversy around it because it's a lot of money for a Tudor, it doesn't have not the most exciting movement in the display case back, no gold bracelet option, et cetera.

But it also is a nice somewhat under the radar, full gold, fully brushed dive watch. In that regard it can be perceived as a great watch for the price range with not that many competitors around.

What are your thoughts? I'd like to hear. Pics are more than welcome.

Overpriced for a Tudor? There testing the market to probably in time release a full gold piece.

Seen it in person. It's nice, but not worth the entry fee imo.

The BB58 is one of the best bang for bucks in the luxury watch industry, and the gold just throws that all out the window (and without a bracelet by default either).

I don't think that the sister brand of Rolex is "testing the market".... (just my opinion)

Making a watch for 12k Sterling I would consider it to be testing the waters when most of there watches are sub 4k sterling

I might be wrong

12k?

The MSRP of the 925 is $4750

The BB58 is 18k solid gold. No cap. No plate. Solid

Unless you’re referring to GBP MSRP for the BB5818K

But I do agree I can’t afford it at the price they have it listed for

I agree that it is overpriced.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if Tudor discontinues this piece after a year or two due to low sales, and then everyone will be wanting one because it was the first precious metal watch Tudor released and only 7 sold.

They might sell it for that price if it had been on a bracelet

With all respect but the topic is about an (overpriced) 18K gold BB58 version (not the sterling silver)

He’s talking about the 18k. Sterling is the U.K. currency.

Agree but over a certain age here everyone says sterling.

Usually I only ever hear that word if someone's talking about a Scottish bank note.

If it was 12k on the bracelet - I would deffo think about it. Price is insane for just the watch head alone.

But could you not way the same for any previous metal Rolex on Oysterflex?

When you can buy an 18k 18238 or 18038 daydate on a bracelet for less than the tudor, the tudor looks like a bad price.

This is exactly the same way I feel about a Rolex on leather or Oysterflex.

I cant bring myself to pay $40k+ for a OF Daytona at all. That Rubber band costs like $20 for Rolex to make max on a mass scale. LOL

It's priced fine. Omega just released a 10k watch for 12k. Think about that.

This will eventually sell for less than msrp but not a lot less because they are not making a large quantity.

Wait until next year when we see an additional full gold model.

Not to say I believe ANY of it. But talking to local AD, he said the same. “Tudor testing the market” and he “was surprised to see them sell so fast”. He said they sold 2 already and that the watches were accounted for before they hit the shelf.

Again, not saying true, but interesting theory.

Tudor Black Bay 58 18k

This might be more difficult to get, and it’s not solid gold either, but you could get this instead. MSRP is about $2000 less.
