Daytona is a fantastic watch. I have owned 4 of them.
Currently have a white dial zenith sold the other 3 after relatively short ownership periods. Truth is legibility is not great, as a daily watch this has always been a drawback for me. Day date Is also a timeless classic, in white metal can be a great daily wear. Value wise day date at MSRP is more sensible... but the Daytona is what it is, though the price is high, it commands a premium and has for decades. Who’s to say where it ends up in the future? Nothing is perfect (except the sub) buy what you want to see on your wrist and don’t look back.

Again, there’s no telling where the price will be in 5 months. Maybe it goes way up. But there’s no question it has softened lately. |

pls dont be the guy who spend $40k on a $13k watch... DD 10000000000%, or a number of Patek/Lange/Breguet references.

between the 2 for $40k, DD all day
and as a bonus if you buy the Day Date from the AD, you may be offered a Daytona by the same AD at a later time |

No chance I would pay 40K for a SS Daytona.

I've been into this whole watch thing for 30 odd years, and I've seen how fickle the market can be at times. This is a hobby, nothing more, nothing less. No-one's life is going to be immeasurably improved by owning a Daytona (or any other watch for that matter), so unless $40k is nothing but chump-change to you, don't waste it lining some speculative grey's pocket. Buy the DD for MSRP and never look back. |

DD no question but try finding one of those at an AD, let alone the exact combo you’d want.

DD41 all day every day. I’m sure it doesn’t hurt your chances of getting a SS Daytona down the line either

Sadly there is a member who I shall not name who keeps defending the current prices and who says the watches are worth what the market can bear. It's crazy how people are brainwashed. Same with the new OPs, it's truly a 5k watch, don't even think it's a 10k watch. |

Secondary market pricing is what it is, that's what little inventory and a lot of demand and speculation does. The OPs which I bought for 5.3k aren't worth the 10-11k per piece they are going for on the used market. It's as simple as that. It's a decent watch but it's not 10-11k quality. I don't understand how anyone would be willing to pay those amounts for those watches. |

Don’t ever pay $40k for a $13k watch. Daydate is leap and bounds above any SS Daytona. I own both and it’s no comparison

Value is in the DD but investment potential even at $40k is still in the daytona.
I’d get the DD 100% and enjoy it immensely |
