My New - Old Tudor Love

New addition to the family. I used to have a 9401/0 which I really loved but for reasons that are not immediately recollect able, I sold it a number of years back, along with a fulls set 1680 singe red.

Needless to say I have regretted it ever since. So much so that during my pursuit for a suitable replacement I actually bought a BB to take the edge off the itch, unsuccessfully, but I still enjoy the BB.

So here she is:

Tudor 9411/0 1979
- looks like mk I dial
- original silver date wheel
- the Rolex marked, Tudor stamped 9315 bracelet has significant stretch, but I enjoy it.
- I think the acrylic has been replaced as my original 9401/0 had a much higher domed acrylic (which I prefer)
- hands have been re-lumed which is disappointing, but hopefully the little bit of lime will wear of, I have no intention to sell
- Pearl has been replaced, which is annoying
- case and bracelet have been polished, but in good condition

I am currently in the market for a Tudor or Rolex 9315 or as a backup 93150 bracelet to give this well loved one some rest. Now I just ned to find one that isn’t ridiculously priced.

I wouldn't worry too much about the changed parts - it's very rare to find a watch so old that hasn't had something changed. I especially wouldn't be bothered about the pip.

Thanks. The replacement parts aren't the end of the world. The watch is 40yo. There are plenty people who have replacement parts by the time they are 40 let alone a watch that has been used and loved. It's just small things, I'm hoping to source a nice 9315 and try and sort a replacement acrylic via RSC here in Aus. But these things can be done over time, I'm in no rush and love the watch. It's my daily love at the moment. The PAM and BB are on the back burner as I'm still in lust with the sub.

To clarify, the OP clearly stated:

Relumed hands
Replacement pip
Replacement crystal

The hands look fine, but I'm guessing the OP has information that we don't.

Hands look orig to me. Like orig discolored ugliness that I really like about these old watches. It’s a really nice watch.

Hands are original but have had a re-lume which is almost off. So over time should be grand.
Luke pip has been replaced.

So it is mostly original parts. Bracelet is the Rolex / Tudor stamp version which is harder to come by. Has significant stretch and am looking into a replacement Tudor 9315. If that fails then will fire on a Rolex 93150.

As for price, I think I got a good deal but it was a price I was willing to pay so I'm happy either way. I won't sell this one again as I regretted selling the 9401/0 too much to go through it again haha.

I like the watch, and as resident Tudor simp, it is as close to original as you are going to get. Service crystal and Replacement pip are inconsequential in the grand scheme for anything short of a perfect piece. This is not perfect but it is a nice example of a blue snowflake.

As for the hands, I have seen many hands that were called out as relumed or service which were in fact original. Your photos simply do not have the detail to determine.

Keep the Rolex clasp over the Tudor - more original and common.

If you REALLY want a Tudor clasp - I have a near perfect Tudor 93150 flip lock I'll let go at a good price.

The hands are original, but I'm 99.9% sure they have been re-lumed at some point, there is still a little bit of the lume on the hour hand however apart from that it's pretty much all gone.

As for the bracelet. I could probably have it rebuilt. The Tudor logo on the clasp is almost gone. The end links need replaced or rebuilt. So the original 9315 may well get a gentle rebuild at some point but more to preserve the originality. I will probably invest in another 9315, either Rolex or Tudor. I love the Tudor 9315 with the Rolex signature in the folding clasp but much harder to source.

I am open to a 93150 but I am one of those people who prefers the weight and feel of the folded link bracelets. I know many people like the hollow link feel more and get frustrated but the folded link varietals.

Different horses for different courses I guess.
