Trying to get 26315ST in NYC or around the US
I am new to this forum and am planning on getting my first AP 26315ST in grey. I'm thinking of two strategies. The first is to call all three boutiques in the NYC area, and the second is to just make an appointment at Manhattan boutique to visit.
I live in Philadelphia and am willing hop on the amtrak for a meet and greet to (presumably) get on a waitlist but would rather not drive out to the East Hamptons or Manhasset locations just to be added to the waitlist (though I would certainly go there to either location to pick up the piece). My preference is to buy from the boutique and hope to acquire before the end of 2021. I appreciate any advice anyone can offer. Thank you! |

Many of us are in the same boat and have gone to these NY boutiques to register interest.
You may do better heading west... |

Pick one location, stick to it. Visit there in person, express your genuine interest, be patient.
You go to three boutiques and register your interest with all three, you look like a flipper. |

Keep us updated on your results. Great watch. I’m hopping to get an allocation for the 38mm panda chrono but am still waiting.

Thank you RyanO! I called the Manhattan boutique yesterday and the associate I spoke to was very kind over the phone and suggested I come visit. She also told me, and perhaps someone can tell me if this is true or not, that it would be impossible to acquire any pieces from Switzerland right now because the factory is on holiday for the whole month of August. Has anyone else heard this?

Not sure if the helps or hurts, but I got this exact model from East Hampton recently with no purchase history or wait (my first AP). Expressed genuine interest, had a great conversation and I think stating my honest desire only for 37-38mm models due to small wrists helped.

calling is a waste of time. you'll never get anywhere because they get hundreds of these calls a week. the best thing is to show up in person and start talking about watches and show you're not a flipper but an actual watch person, and then commit to that one boutique and wait

Thank you, RyanO! I called the NYC boutique yesterday and had a very nice conversation with an associate. She told me I couldn't get a piece in August because the factory is on holiday in August, and invited me to visit the boutique. I plan to visit in the next week or so!

Well, I have work with French and French Swiss colleagues for years, and that sounds entirely plausible

This is correct, AP shuts down every year for holiday during the month of August. AD's and boutiques will not start getting deliveries again until September.

I have gotten a few Royal Oaks from the boutiques based on relationship and buying history. Each piece was allocated about 18-22 months apart. I found that if you give them options in terms of a couple of references and dial colors it helps. As soon as people ask for a blue dial 15202 steel, I know they throw their hands up in the air. The sales staff is just as frustrated as us w lack of the watches. Also, meeting them once or twice and then staying in touch via text has worked. I find AP to have superb levels of service.

Let us know how it goes. I was under the impression to get this watch you either need strong connections or buying history. At least in today’s market.

good luck although i think it will be at least a year's wait and a 2022 or 2023 event there are exceptions, but the NYC boutique can't even meet demand for locals in the city with history, much less someone from out of town with no history From my understanding, most 26315st are already pre-allocated early in the year to individuals who are waiting as they know their allotment but not necessarily when. Of course, I'm sure they keep some behind for one offs and special clients, but its not like they have a ton of pieces rolling into the boutique on a weekly basis. |
