I would never make a trade like that. Regardless of the current grey prices, the BLRO is still a sub-10k pieces while the RO is over double that. You will be taken advantage of by today’s hype and inflated prices if you give up the RO for a steel GMT.
I would not even make that trade for a steel Daytona. |

You have 4 "sport watches" and 2 elegant watches. You said it has a special place in your heart. Keep it - its a case of grass being greener, FOMO etc. I'd swap out another watch for the BLRO before the AP. AP > BLRO. |

You are trading one inflated piece for another. So its really a wash. As long as the numbers work out and you maintain your equity, it doesn't matter and you should get the watch you want to wear!

I assume the patek and tudor were purchased from the same AD? Cortina or THG? If yes, the spending was not bad, you can be upfront to ask for the requirements to get the blro… or like Ash said be patient…. maybe in your journey of watch collecting... Perhaps you can add other brands for diversity to stregthen you profile and relationship with the AD and the blro will come. To answer your question, no i will not sell the RO for blro and etf/investment. I prefer to upgrade.

From a horological standpoint I wouldn’t do it, but if you want liquidity to invest, then you should go for it. But selling your 15500 will leave a hole in your collection, and within a year you’ll probably find yourself wanting a Royal Oak again.

Mr Goh, I will keep the AP. To me it's more special.

Thanks for all the advice and opinions. Have decided to keep it for the time being and maybe look to add the BLRO in the future.

No chance. Keep the AP. BLRO will come in due time anyway.

had both, and while I wore my GMT's much more often (mainly because i could just wear them and not care), i wouldn't trade a RO for a GMT.

Without a doubt keep the 15500. They are incredibly hard to get and will only get even more hard.
Whilst I have a Pepsi on Jubilee it’s not even close to being in the same ballpark as your 15500. Order the Rolex and just wait for it. No GMT is ever worth double retail in my book and I say that an owner of several now and in the past. |

Don't think "rigged" is correct. If your business, wouldn't you favor long term customers and people who purchase numerous high priced items, if supplies are limited and lower than demand?

Why would you buy a new BLRO? Once you wear it you will lose thousands and it will be used anyways. You should just buy a used one with cash when you can afford it |

Both Pepsi and 15500ST are gorgeous timepieces. Both are worth at their own price. You cannot said that 15500ST is a lot better than Pepsi. The price of Pepsi is less than half of 15500ST.
I think it depends on personal preference. somebody might want the Hulk+Pepsi more than 15500ST for the same amount of money. If you still love 15500ST, keep it and save more money to get Pepsi later.

I have a BLNR, and a 15500. I never wear the BLNR now. I would like a BLRO too (just to have it), but I will still choose the 15500 over the BLRO.

I wouldn't do that if I were you. You probably enjoy BLRO for awhile. Maybe a month or so but from my past experience (some painful ones as well), wanting a certain model is not the same as owning one. Especially with Rolex, you don't get to walk in and try on the model you are interested to buy just to find out if its the right model for you or not. In the end, that might not be the case. I owned a 5 digits pepsi for awhile and I found that the color theme may not fit for all occasion unlike grey dial RO that can go with any color tone of your daily outfits. I eventually traded it with extra cash for BLNR and I couldn't be happier with the Batman....well until I got my first RO which I now fvaorite watch I've own so far.
It is totally up to you to decide, there is no wrong answer here. But my 2 cents would be keep the RO! |

I’m in strong agreement with the advice on thread: no, you should absolutely not do this move! Stand pat, exercise patience, and look to add that BLRO down the line. What an amazing addition that will be to your already strong collection, WITH the AP.
Disclaimer: at the end of the day, the heart wants what the heart wants, and you should do what makes you happy! But if you make this move and regret it, remember that the forum gave you an emphatic head’s up before you pulled the trigger. |
