Cartier Tank Americaine Rose Gold
Looking to purchase a rectangle watch and found this. I was able to see it, but the strap on the display piece was too small for my wrist.....Also in the case was the Louis medium size, very small but nice!
I like the Jaeger-Lecoultre reverso too...... I've always had an attraction to the rectangle shape and do own a rectangular vintage Seiko. Do they pass the test of TIME? I did read they only have a two year warranty. Any advice on this reference would be greatly appreciated! |

A great looking watch and a classic. They will stand the test of time because they already have. If the price is right it could join my collection if that is what I wanted.

Wow that’s a fine looking watch. If you’re torn between this Cartier and the reverso I’d say that decision should be guided by metal choice. Reverso is traditionally in steel as it’s a polo playing sport watch; Cartier is best in pm IMO.
Cartier service from my understanding is pretty good. May not have Rolex service intervals but at the end of the day it’s a Richemont brand and that movement will be able to be serviced for many decades to come. |

I was under the impression Cartier warranty can be extended to 8 years now. This is a great watch. I prefer the ones that have deployment buckle, but I know not all do. This is a unique one, you have to decide if you prefer the narrow and longer with more curve to the flatter and more square tanks.

Cartier all the way. I would think pre-owned or via gray is the way to go.
Everyone should own a classic Cartier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’d opt for Louis Cartier model with manual winding movement, or else I think the JLC is an indisputably better watch.
If going pre-owned, there have been some beautiful rectangular Patel Gondolo models in the past. Truly outstanding. |

Ok, saw the comment about preferring an automatic movement so going to amend my preference: if you can still find one, Tank Solo XL auto in gold. Probably well under $10,000 and a more classic shape (like the LC).

New Cartier watches can be registered to extend the warranty to 8 years. It's on their website.
Both are nice watches. The automatic IIRC, the movement is based on an ETA. The Tank Louis Cartier large uses an F.Piguet movment. As for design, these definitely will stand the test of time. I wouldn't worry about that at all. These are iconic watches. |
