Believe the guy Vianney Halter got his idea for the design below from a old gas meter from Russia when he was a boy,what memories.

Hey Padi,

I've see some pretty weird watches out there, but that one looks like something these Wardens carry on them when walking the beat down our Queen's Street writing out Parking Fines for over-parked motorists!!

I know you guys have a different definition of Warden in the States. These are people employed by the City Council. They patrol given areas and issue parking tickets from a gizmo that looks exactly like that POS watch!!

Our wardens are in control of the prisions here. The people that hand out parking tickets are called Meter Maids. So your wardens are really meter maids.

Fascinating but fugly. Perhaps for a collector of special timepieces. (Like people from darkest Wales, looks like a mechanical calculator from 1910!

If I were in the market for a fusee chain watch (i.e. more money than I knew what to do with) I would choose the Lange Pour le Merite voer this fugly thing. Although more at home in a clock movement than a wrist watch, I do admire the ability to make such a small fusee chain.

Well yes Al would agree with the Lange,but as for the ability, the fusee chain drive has been around a long time.And when you think of say pocket watches from the early 1800s,and the tools they had then.And then compare with the tools computers today,then that puts a different perspective on making it.
110% agree on above watches being fugly though.

What an ugly watch. Sure, I may understand the slight bit of horological acheivement in this watch, but god that thing is ugly. Nothing of good taste has ever come out of Jacob.

Dunno why, but when I first saw that watch, the thought that popped into my head was Robert Shaw going, "Jesus H Christ, when I was a boy, every little squirt wanted to be a harpooner or a sword fisherman. What d'ya have there - a portable shower or a monkey cage?".

Go figure. Maybe I just haven't had enough coffee.

Actually (to the OP), the two watches are different.

Watch in picture #1 is by Jacob and Co.

Watch in picture #2 (that looks like an old cash register) is by Vianney Halter, and has a tourbillon, etc. The price- $220,000!
