Thoughts on the Speedy reduced watch?
I’m female and have small wrists — but I can wear a 38 mm just fine (I have a vintage Rolex GMT) but not sure about much bigger. I really want a Speedmaster and was intrigued by the earlier reduced size version (no longer in production but easily available on line). Reading up on it tho the movement is problematic to service, among other things. Anyone have it? Any views on that or which Speedmaster might wear on the smaller side? Or is this a fruitless pursuit?

The Speedy Reduced does wear pretty small, & you should definitely give it a try. I believe it comes standard with the brown leather strap- which wears smaller than a bracelet. I'm not aware of any particular problems with the movement (maybe someone else is).
Also, you should look at the 38mm coaxial chronographs which will wear pretty small- something like the 324.30.38.50.01.001 (which has a date at 6 o'clock in the 6 o'clock subdial- which I like) & which can also be worn w/a strap so they wear even smaller. Definitely not a fruitless pursuit.

That one is nice!
Btw, I’ve had no service issues with mine (one on the left). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The Speedy reduced dial has always looked a little off to me. The spacing/proportions of the dial elements don't look quite right.
I'd suggest trying on the 3861 in person before you rule it out at 42mm. It wears a lot slimmer than the 1861. |

True! I got the 3861, after writing off the 1861 as too big. The bracelet makes it feel/look much smaller. That said, it looks massive on my wife’s wrist.

The Speedy Reduced is a nice option for those with a smaller wrist. Just be aware that the movement is an ETA 2892 with a dubois depraz chrono module bolted on top. It's the chrono part of this that can be tricky to service. These watches tend to be priced accordingly, and an example recently serviced at Omega should be a fine addition.

One thing I cant get past the reduced is how the pushers and crown don't align when seen from the side. Because as someone said, its a ETA with 'separate' chrono module. A nice, smaller size would be CK2915 60th anniversary reissue at 38.6mm https://www.fratellowatches.com/omeg...mited-edition/ |

Thanks everyone! This is really helpful. I am totally intrigued by the day date version and am off to look at chrono24 right now!

The reduced was my daily for many year. I did not find it particularly small because I have 6" wrist.
Since I have the 42mm speedy, I am feeling the reduced is a bit small. Hence, the reduced has been passed on to my better half. Anyway, I now think 39.7 mm is the best for me. ;-) Sent from my SM-N985F using Tapatalk |
