This is an one odd model which may be discontinued anytime. I am trying to order it through my AD for 2022. So I am biased and would say go for it.
BTW, I have the 5320 which is a sibling of the 5172 and I love the look of it. The case, numerals and syringe hands. |

There's just something about a high end, manual wind chronograph. As a 5170 lover myself, can't say anything to discourage you.

Not sure it will help but I for one like 5170P a lot more than 5172G both in terms of case design and size.

My AD hasn't called in a while, let alone for something that epic. Get it!

I started another post because I tried this watch on today and absolutely fell in love. So asthetically pleasing. So versatile. I could wear this 24/7. I was surprised to discover it was over 70k. Someone please help me understand why this white gold manual wind chrono is priced so high. I’m not trying to degrade the watch, I actually love it. I’m just looking to be educated more on this piece.

5172g

Not really sure what you’re asking. It’s a Patek Philippe. They’re expensive and excellent. The price is in line with the rest of the catalogue and the secondary market price seems like a bargain compared to the stainless models. Also this… |

Get it!
Out of the complications catalog, it was between the 5905P and the 5172g. I did like the platinum and annual calendar of the 5905P but liked the 5172 more due it's more casual yet elegant look. It works with jeans/polo or a suit. The chrono is definitely a useful function and I find the ease of just pressing the pusher great for timing my french press! I also agree with vandyologist, the movement is finished so beautifully and you can spend hours staring!

5172g

Manual is preferred for a high end chronograph. The 5170 debuted at msrp of well over 80k usd, they actually lowered the price this round. I think the 5172 alongside the 5320G are the best values at secondary in the modern Patek comps catalogue.
