GMT II 16710 Suffix Meaning?

I'm curious about the letter suffix on my P-serial 16710 GMT Master. The original paperwork shows it's a 16710N (N=noir for black bezel insert), but a 2012 service warranty card shows it's a 16710T.

Can someone explain the meaning of the "T" suffix on the service warranty card?

TIA

I believe it denoted solid end links.

No, it does not mean solid end links.

It means that the watch case lugs do not have through-holes or pierced lugs. A non-through hole case can still have SEL's.

All models that originally had through holes, then the case was changed to have non-holes lugs that we see on all watches today, were stamped with a T so that the correct bracelet spring-bars could be properly ordered/installed.

When those models were updated to another number, the T was dropped. As an example, all 16610 cases with non-thru lug holes have the T, while the later 116610 do not.

I’m confused. Shouldn’t a P sold in 2001 have lug holes?

I am too. Because I had a P serial from 2000 which had a holes case. Which is why I always through the T was for the SEL.

But Tools is usually spot on with his info.

Stan, does your 16710 have a hole case?

Yes. My P-serial 16710N sold in 2001 has lug holes, but the service warranty card says 16710T.

Don´t worry. Just a mistake on the warranty card.

Yeah, my 2007 16710 came back from RSC with the T and obviously is a no holes case.
