Is the white 5711 finally getting some love ?

Hello folks,

After looking at the Phillips Geneva Auction on nov 5 & 7, i was quite surprised that a white dial 5711 fetched 144.900 chf whereas it’s blue sister from the same year was sold for about 113kCHF.
Any thoughts on that ?

Full disclosure, I do own a piano dial nautilus and love it even though for a while I did try to trade it for a blue…

I've been noticing it too, the 5980 white is more expensive now compared to 5980 black and 5980 blue at chrono24.

I wore mine last night after many months. Just lovely. So much nicer than the blue imho. May even now prefer it over the Rose Gold.

I wouldn’t put too much stock in auction prices. A FPJ watch box sold for 100k, a readily available gold Grand Seiko that you can buy for less than 40k sold for 60k.

Go ask multiple grey dealers and see how much they are willing to pay for your watch, that’s the real liquidity price. You can obviously get a better price if you sell it yourself.

I personally love the watch. Unfortunately, my wallet does not

Yep mine gets more wrist time than all my others - I definitely like my white more than my 5711R . If I could only keep one it would be the 5711white .

Shocking to think that just 4 years or so ago the white dial 5711 wasn’t all that hard to get!

I really wanted the blue 5711 but reluctantly got the white 5711. This was right before it was discontinued and bonus was that it had the new movement. I even contemplated declining and waiting for the blue dial. I'm so glad I got it. If I didn't pick it up, I wouldn't have a 5711 today. Love the watch and the dial is awesome. The pics don't do it justice.
