SS Daytona
It looks like I have the opportunity to purchase a black face SS Daytona from a friend of mine. He purchased from an AD in Mexico (Cabo San Lucas) back in April 2006 and paid $6975 USD. The watch has the fat hands. I do not remember what letter the serial # starts with. I want to say an "F". He only wore the watch a couple dozen times and it has been sitting in his safe for the last 15 months. Comes with everything, box, papers and certificate
In your opinion what do you think I should be paying for this watch? Thanks for your thoughts. ![]() |

The Daytona 2006 would be the post Zenith El Primo movement model.
The 116250. If it's an F serial it would have been manufactured in mid 2003. Daytonas never sat on the AD shelves in those days. There was a waiting list of around 3 to 4 years. The price he paid seems a little under for 2006. At that time the Daytonas were selling like there was no tomorrow. Most had a premium of 20% tacked on to the MSRP. If you are keen to buy, the valuation today would be US$9000 if it's in top condition with all the paper work, box, manuals and warranty paper intact. Would be a good buy at anything below $9000. Cheers Imtiaz |

Even at the same price, I'd pay for it.

Thanks for the response. $9000 is more then I thought it would be worth today, especially with the economy and what Ihave seen offered on the for sale section.
When he bought it the US MSRP was $6975. It was before the price increase to $7900. I need to find out what serial it is. It may be a "D". It is my understanding that "F" serial #'s were produced between 2003 and 2006 and "D" serials between 2004 and 2007. This is at least what the forum here says. He purchased a lot of Rolex watches from this AD so they offered to him, no questions asked when he asked if they could get for him. |

i would say 7500$ would be a good amount i wouldnt pay anythin more than that.....cuz you could get a BNIB one forum this forum in the 9.5K - 10K range. i'd rather pay 500-750 more for a brand new watch made this year.

I have a black dial daytona d series. Roughly 18 months ago I was offered 10500 for the watch by a grey dealer but today I would say the watch would go for 9000 same as Imtiaz's valuation. I bought at retail 6900.

Already have a white face SS Daytona. Bought new for $7900 from my AD almost two years ago. It is a Z serial with Rolex engraving on Rehaut (I think that is what everyone on this forum calls it). I have been offered BNIB from my AD black dials many times over the past 9 months and turned them all down. I just can not justify paying $9925 for a watch I can buy all day long for less then that.
The price I offered my friend was $7000 and he said he is seriously considering and will let me know next week. I know the history of this watch so I am comfortable buying it from him. If he comes back with a higher price I will not do it. I am not over excited about it, just figured it would be a nice addition to my collection if I could get it for a fair price. I will let you know what happens and will post pics if I do end up getting it. ![]() |
