Insurance for my new GMT II

Hello,

Can anyone UK based offer any advice or guidance on where is best (or who to avoid) for home insurance that I can add my new SS GMT II please?

I also have a 2010 SS no date Sub, and a TT DJ 41 that I need cover for.

Any recommendations or guidance would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance, John

Not sure is this is an option in the UK, but I have mine covered under my homeowners insurance.

Try AVIVA - you can tell them how much you want to insure the watches for

I'd agree with this. But I had to fight hard to get what I insured it for as opposed to retail price. I went through a claim after having my 116710BLNR stolen and it was fairly smooth until the price. Had to get them to listen to a previous phone call where they made out as though they were still in the right to pay RRP until I had them send me the recording.

My advice would be to take pictures of your watch with the receipt, warranty card and box in case anything happens and also be very specific with them over the phone so you have covered yourself in full!

Thanks for the advice and suggestions Dini.
I’ll take plenty pics of the watches, boxes, service cards, etc, and ask them to confirm the agreed insurance price in writing via post (I’m old school that way!).
Out of curiosity what sort of premium were you paying for the cover?
I’ve read on a few other threads that some expect to pay around 1% per annum of the value being insured against. Is that a realistic expectation?

My premium is approximately 1.5% but that includes multiple watches and jewelry (engagement ring) and probably a premium for having claimed off them. Also, any item above a specific value will need to be approved by the underwriter.
Hopefully this helps

Thank for the advice, yes that’s my preferred option to have them covered under my home contents insurance rather than a separate additional policy.

Will update the thread once I get this arranged so others can benefit from the advice and experience.
