CPCP is the way to go, I think it will only appreciate in value further. Sad to see they mostly stopped their top complications, 2014-2015 they were on a roll with astrotourbillons, etc.
I have a simple tank on a strap, thinking about adding a bracelet since all the watches I wear now it's bracelet / rubber. Cartier is a class on it's own, also a very good way to buy a complicated watch on the cheap 2nd hand since they always make lots of them. |

A pic of my CPCP Monopusher Chrono from this past weekend (not a nick at 6 O’Clock, just a fuzzy).

Just got the Santos large a few months ago and love it, both on bracelet and strap. Love the easy strap change and bracelet adjustment. My wife loves it, so I am getting her the medium. My first Cartier. Very positive experience.

Love me a Tank. Still wore them all the time especially in a more formal setting.

I have two for dress watches. I sold my two Pateks sometime back as I am more of a Cartier fan. I have a Louis Cartier Ronde and a Louis Cartier Tank XL. Both RG on deployants and Camille Fournet alligator straps.

I had a two tone santos when I was younger (was my first luxury watch) and sold it a few years ago as I didn't really wear it (was quite small on the wrist and wasn't as clean lined as I would have liked due to the large movement).
Will buy one of the blue dial santos once I've thinned my collection out by a watch or two. Sent from my SM-G986B using Tapatalk |

I recently bought the Tank Americaine L on stainless steel. It's been my main watch for the past 3 weeks. I would like to add a Cintree eventually but I don't have the funds and are now discontinued.

I bought my wife a Tank a few years ago and I’m thinking of selling my Panerai 000 and a BR 01-92 and getting that new blue Santos. |

Beautiful. Is that your large or the medium you bought your wife?
Right, I guess it’s the large as it has date. Any pics of the medium? |

I've yet to find a Cartier I want to wear. Tried a few on at the boutique. Too many things I don't like, overall fashion watch feel, huge printed romans, tiny hands, square shapes, protruding crowns, subpar clasps, uninspired guilloche, visible screws on some models, etc. Meh, they're not for me.

The large Tank Americaine is a beautiful dress watch for both men & women. To my eyes, it's one of the most beautiful watches ever made, even if the movement is mundane from a HH standpoint.
Cartier generally has an superb (corporate) eye for designs. It's amazing the number of models, and then variations, that have become iconic. |

What are the externally visible differences between a CPCP and a "regular" Cartier (assuming same model, same metal)? If one were to put those two side by side, what would one notice?

The old CPCP normally has “Paris” written on it along with a floral guilloche in the center. Normal models won’t have “Paris” and just the regular guilloche.

Ah, I knew about the "Paris" mention of course, but I didn't know about the floral guilloche. It looks like it's not present on the Tank Americaine CPCP for some reason.

Cartier watches are not my cup of tea, I have not found one that I like even from the suggestions on this thread. However I greatly respect their work in jewellery.

The Santos is a beautifully designed sports watch with an amazing story and heritage. The very first sports and pilot wristwatch, if not one of the very first men’s wristwatches all together. Cartier has been making Santos before Rolex was even a company. It’s a pretty impressive piece at a very reasonable market price.
