Lost the Rolex Box for my model 116233 , year 2004

During my move from Boston to Miami my Rolex box went missing to my Rolex Oyster Perpetual DATEJUST Model 116233 (2004) Rolex. I considered selling the watch but decided to keep it since it's one of my first. I'm particular in my collection and having the correct Rolex box to go with the watch.
I read about the Rolex box reference codes and don't see a Rolex box code related to my watch. Thanks in advance.

Also the watch has an F serial number I'm assuming it's 2003-04

Any chance the movers “borrowed” it?

In the real world there is no correct box for most all Rolex watches in that time period. Boxes are made in many different countries and boxes were given whatever the AD had in stock point of sale. And F serials ran from September 2003 into 2005 so any period box in that time frame will do. Today most all SS watches will come in a medium size box, watches like the DSSD might come in a larger box but this is not always the case.

Papers matter more than box. You still have those? A proper box would be easy to pinpoint. Check listings for similar watches with that serial and see what box they have.

As Padi has said, the box is dependent on which one the AD selects and not necessarily based on the model year of the watch series, but when the AD sold the watch. My guess is that it came with this style.

Just buy the genuine one that looks like it on eBay. They aren't special other than S M L sizes.

As a side bar, Rolex boxes are a cardboard embarrassment.

As a buyer, as long as you had the warranty card I'd prefer you put it in an Omega box.

Isn't that the truth. Some of these other boxes are really nice and functional. They don't feel like they will fall apart with daily nightstand/storage use.

The trauma of losing a box. One can only imagine if it had been the watch. Maybe he did lose the watch im sure in 2004 it would be a 16233.

I will be nicer to you than other folks here...

Unless you intend to sell your watch in the future (near or far), the box or papers don't really matter. The box less than the papers. Majority of Rolex owners eventually lose those things after a decade or two. Now for grey market dealers, some of their clients want the boxes so the dealers charge a couple of hundred dollars more if the watches they sell have boxes and papers. I bought a watch once from a grey seller and he offered to include an "era correct" box with the watch. I couldn't even tell. At the end of the day, your box pretty much just sits beside your socks in some drawers for years. Maybe thats why it got lost in the first place. If you really want to get a box for your watch, they sell those in ebay all the time, or go to big watch sellers (the diamond district in NYC) where they sell boxes specifically for those that have lost theirs.

Good luck.

p.s. the 116233 is my favorite 36mm watch. Does your have the roman numerals with white dials? I am actually looking for one because my wife has one that I gave to her in 2006.

They are not made by Rolex. Possibly made in some impoverished country by child labor.
