16750 insert - advice and sparepart?
Hello everybody,
I recently bought a mk1 16750 from 1983 (i'm super happy!) and now looking for the correct PEPSI insert bezel (she's now with a black one). Can someone tell me if it has to be a red-back insert to respect the originality? Or a blue back is ok (what i believe on a transitional model)? Has to be fat font? Do you have any recommandation of trustable seller or picture of how the insert should be? Thank you very much for your help, would be happy to meet anyone living in indonesia! Regards |

I'm sure your inbox will be filled up soon with some options. Just post it here before pulling the trigger.
Blue back is what you want, although its debatable. I've always thought the change from red to blue was in '82 but like all things vintage Rolex, there's overlap and uncertainty. Like if you should look for serifs or not... |

OP, I would look for an 'oval 8' red back if you wanna play safe. Some would even accept a 'round 8' red back or a blue back. 83 is a tough one lol. If you want the 'round 8' red back, I can sell you one. After other opinions here or what your research concludes, you can PM me if you're interested .... and watch out for replicas ;) Last edited by swaini3; 23 February 2022 at 09:31 PM.. Hello Swaini, this is indeed a very nice insert. Have to admit I didn't expect this mount of money for a blue back ahahah.
Is this your product? Don't hesitate to PM me! |

A great transitional piece.
Nothing wrong with going with a fat font, even if it is an earlier insert. All depends what sings to you and what your budget can handle. It will look great in either case. Give us an updated photo when you acquire the insert.. |

A red back insert for 1983 would work for me. It is hard to say when the transition from red to blue occurred, but based on my experience and ownership, I'd error with early 1980s. The red backs are found during the early 1980s with oval 8s and some without oval 8s. Pick your poison and enjoy your watch.

If it helps, my 16750 1984 8.5 mill serial, no date dial came with a rounded 8 red back insert
I have no doubt that this was original to the watch, as it came as a very full set Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
