1957 Rolex perpetual restoration

I inherited my grandfather's Rolex and would like to have it restored. It is working (though I am not sure how good the timekeeping is), but the crown has broken off (I do have the crown)

Thanks

Sorry, I didn't complete my post.

Can anyone recommend a restorer (ideally in the UK)?

Do you know anything about what model this is?

looks like a non-Rolex case but a 9ct Shackman case, that was made in the UK and was made to house a rolex movement and dial. Any competent watchmaker should be able to service your watch. Cool watch!

You just need a competent watchmaker to service the movement, and he can replace the stem/crown at the same time. No restoration is needed really, so there's no reason to pay exorbitant rates. Maybe just ask around locally if you have any friends who like watches.

Many thanks both. This is really helpful.

I agree, I dont see any pressing issues where a restoration would be needed, just a service and cleaning. The case and dial look great.

Thanks.

Would it be worth keeping the crown? Or will this need to be replaced?

I assume the crown broke off due to rust. If the crown head inner threads have not been compromised in any way, you may be able to get the watch maker to install a new stem on it so that it can continue to be used. Otherwise, I would just keep it so that you have the original.
I dont see any rust on the movement in the pic so its hard to know how the stem broke.
