Omega 2234.50 GMT off EBAY. Should I return without papers?

I just received an Omega 2234.50 GMT I purchased on EBAY a few hours ago. Yes, I know…EBAY. It seemed like a good idea… Anyways, there is a 30-day return policy. The EBAY ad sys "Full Set" in the title. The description says "Box or Paperwork: Yes/Yes". It only came with the instruction manual and a worn box. The watch itself is in excellent condition and looks as good as in the pics with no discernable scratches, sapphire crystal looks great, and watch bracelet also unmarked in general. I have already contacted them to argue the "Full Set", "Box or Paperwork: Yes/Yes" description and they replied saying:

"Im sorry you aren't happy. Essentially a full set to us is the box and manual. The main reason is those warranty cards often times have someone's personal information on there and in this day and age, not many people want to share that, so they don't include those with the watches. Please feel free to return the watch if it wasn't what you were expecting."

This from a company that has 25,600 sales of both watches and jewelry and not 1 negative review. That last part may change. I find the "this is our idea of a full set" ridiculous.

To the point. Would you A. Return the watch or B. Keep it, given the excellent condition. I know I won't be wearing the box and paperwork on my arm and thought I got a great deal for a full set. I do still consider it a fair deal but am a little put off by their sales tactics. Going to take it some place to get it on a time grapher to check accuracy prior to making a final decision. If you like the watch, especially with eBay sending it to the independent watchmaker to verify authenticity, then I would keep it.

The only downside will be if you decide to sell it later. You might take a hit on price.

But, it looks pristine and very nice.

At this price point, if you like the watch and are happy with the condition of the watch, I support keeping it as you know eBay verified authenticity. If you get it serviced down the road, you'll have some additional paperwork if you ever do sell.

Good to note in future hunts for a full set piece to message the seller and ask specifically what does it come with, or may I see a picture of the full set? You'll often find 'full set' is a very subjective term. Given the age of the watch, I'd also recommend a pressure test before water activities.

Yes, I do like the watch and wouldn't be selling anytime soon. There are very few with a full set in good condition it seems. With full set it would have been a great pickup with not full set still not bad.

I was a little too anxious. I did ask about the International Warranty and Chronometer Warranty along with an offer for $300 less than their asking price. All they did was lower the price and not answer my question. Should have know then. I should have done two separate messages #1. and then #2 should not have assumed they would see things the same as I. Only problem on the discounted price is it goes out to everyone watching the auction. Felt I had to act but my action precipitated this problem, which may or may not be a problem really. I do think the watch is in excellent condition but debating sending it back to hold out for a real full set. Sound advise on the pressure test! Thank you.

That looks like a pretty good price and if the watch itself is in nice
Condition id be tempted to keep it. You could always ask the seller to discount it by a couple hundred bucks to make up for the lack of papers but all in all id move on and be happy with it.

If you intend to wear and not sell, keep it, wear it and enjoy the watch. Bear in mind, a full set will probably be not at this price and you will have to fork out more.

I bought a 2531.80 that was same way. I’m never selling it, so I don’t really care.

I’m kind of jealous you found that one in such an amazing condition.

I don't think it will be valuable enough to worry about the warranty card. I'd personally keep it and enjoy it. I sold a pair of planet oceans to a dealer here on TRF. One was full set and one was box only from jomashop. I got exactly the same offer for both. $3500.

My vote also goes for keep it and enjoy. The seller REALLY needs to learn / understand that "Full Set" means all items that came with the watch as new from the authorized dealer.

As a collector I know how much those items matter. In fact, I had a 2225.80 years ago before the one I currently own which was purchased without the 3 cards (International Warranty, Pictograms, and Chronometer Certificate). At the time I had fewer watches in my collection but wanted one of these as a full set due to sentimental reasons.

It bothered me so much I traded it towards my GMT Master II 116710LN. In that instance it worked out better for me.

I buy a lot of watches off eBay now, it's improved significantly over the years. You must buy the seller, literally. If they claim that stuff is included I would expect to have them send me additional images if it isn't already on the listing. I'm also noticing that many sellers list on multiple platforms, as I see the same items on Chrono24 as listed on eBay, etc. 18 years of being an eBay user I've learned some tough lessons but perfected this in the last few years, especially given some of the aforementioned changes the platform made vs. the early days.

What you got there is hard to find and worth keeping. If possible source another and sell this one, but truthfully, given how the watch market is now and how difficult it is to find the watches of that era in this shape I would happily keep it. Enjoy in good health!

The seller did misrepresent "full set" in the description, but I wouldn't let a couple of plastic cards ruin everything. It's a cool watch and looks to be in great shape. Enjoy it!

That's a good price for that model in that condition.

Myself, I'd fret only if I planned on selling it later. But would just strap it to my wrist and call it a day. You can't wear a warranty card anyway!

I have decided to keep it. Took it to a watch place to check for beat error, or whatever it is you can check quickly on a time grapher, and they said it was working flawlessly. I will be taking it back to have them size the bracelet today and see if they can do a water resistance check. I suppose when I get it serviced in a few years I'll have Omega do it and get a warranty card then. Chronometer warranty card— whatever. Thank you all for your support and comments. I would have returned on the simple fact that it was bought as complete and item received wasn’t. For an Omega warranty card, there is no personal info, just date and retailer.

Yes, I was not pleased about the lack of additional materials. But in the end, it's not a highly desirable piece. I bought it because I like it! No investment considerations but thought it would be nice to have the full set for one of my sons. In the end, the condition is outstanding, and that was was what sold me. It's like a freaking torch at night and not just for a few minutes. It continues to glow brightly throughout the evening into first light. So easy to read. Freaking love this watch! Probably buy something new next and save myself the doubts and second guessing. Hahahah!

I recently bought a 2010 Constellation from a local Grey Dealer. I liked the watch and liked the price. However he did not mislead me with the 'box and papers' claim. I knew it was naked. If you like the price and the watch at this price keep it. However I would let them know very strongly that this is not what 'box and papers' or 'full set' means.
