Time to change my Omega?

From yesterday's New York Times.

Thoughts? Guesses?

This is on their IG reel as well. Omega has a message saying its time to change your Swatch.

Didn't realize they had print ads for this too. I guess in a few days we'll find out what it's all about. I'm perplexed.

I'm thinking an Omega watch head which can be inserted into a different Swatch Watch strap and housing. Kind of like Hegid watches do.

Omega x Swatch collaboration, perhaps? As a fan of both brands, I’m intrigued.

I think that Swatch is getting tired of folks not knowing that it owns Omega and a host of other top brands.

It's a marketing move

Interesting perspective and you maybe right. I like the new releases and think sometimes it is nice for a brand not to take themselves so seriously. I got into watches because they were fun and maybe this is a gateway for younger collectors/hobbyists to participate.

Super nice move by swatch imho
Brings the fun back to collecting and with an iconic design of the speedmaster

Honestly - Had an Aqua Terra on my short list. This turns me off the brand.

Not for the collaboration with Swatch, but for the cheap plastic watch that is not waterproof trading on an Iconic model.

That's just me, I'm sure they will sell.

I agree. Having just bought my first Omega (Speedmaster Professional) several months ago, and getting excited about some of the new releases, I will no longer look at Omega the same way. Plenty of other well respected brands to choose from. Swatch should have stayed in their lane, and left Omega on the path they were on. Omega has jumped the shark!

You do realize it has the same water resistance as the Speedmaster professional right?

Don't take everything so literally in life. If you don't like your 3861 anymore and are willing to sell at it reduced value, please PM me.

No, you should just collect ALL the plastic Omega watches like they were Beanie Babies!
