Yes - to discourage flipping.

It's been a policy for Rolex for a couple years now.

Surprised after 11 years and 2000+ posts you were not aware of this. Nice. I mean that sincerely.

Was the same for me earlier this month when I picked up my watch I asked but they wouldn’t let me keep any of the packaging except the white outer box to the green box. I have no interest in flipping it but for retaining its value I wanted to make sure I had all the original packaging and was told it’s Rolex policy to remove almost everything and clean up the watch before delivery to the customer.

Why would your friend want to keep the stickers on?

Same thing happened with my Tudor BB58 purchase last year. The SA took the watch while I was at the register paying and before I was done swiping the amex card he was back at my side picking off every last sticker before sizing the band for me.

It seems reasonable even going beyond being a means of discouraging flipping. From an optics perspective, I would think many ADs would want a customer to have a Rolex that is properly sized and ready to go, and not have to spend a bunch of time taking stickers off and cleaning off any residual adhesive.

This is a premium luxury product, not Ikea furniture.

When I bought my wife a Rolex for her birthday. And they started taking off stickers saying don't do it.In response I heard it's our rules we remove stickers

Why would you want the stickers on unless you want to sell it immediately as new?

I think it's good that they leave the stickers until the point of sale. Don't want to go back to the old days where you buy a watch without any stickers at all.

No, it's not a Rolex policy.

My AD pulls the stickers off every watch of every brand they sell. It's their policy and they're not afraid to say it, unlike some who claim everything they have to do is "Rolex policy".

We recently bought a new car. It came covered in factory fitted protective plastic outside and inside. The dealer removed them before the hand over. I asked for them to be put back on but they had already recycled them.

Can you imagine the harm and destruction if Rolexes were to leave an AD with their stickers on

These ADs are doing the Lord’s work

I only ask that removing the stickers is the last thing they do before we walk out. I want to be the one that scratches my new watch, not them.. :)

My AD let me take the watch unsized, stickered, and with the coffin. May 2021. I wanted to unsticker and size it that while sipping whiskey. One of the hobbies best pleasures. They know I don't flip watches.

According to Beyer in Zurich, it’s Rolex policy, not an AD decision. They always peel ‘em when I buy there. Every single one.

When you see cars being transported to dealers they are covered in plastic protection wraps and hub covers. I'm really glad they don't leave it up to me to remove then.

Why should watches be different? What possible value does leaving the stickers on have, apart from flipping?

IS this a Rolex policy?

Does your friend use his Rolex with the stickers on?

Anyway, tell him that he can buy stickers in ebay.
He can put it back in the watch and it will increase the value by $1,000 when he sells it.

Personally I don't see an issue with this , I mean why would anyone want to keep stickers on ? Unless a flipper

It will lower the resale value but it won’t stop flippers. Not one bit.

Apparently removing stickers is a policy but somehow you can buy a Rolex from a secondary dealer with stickers. Not sure how it happens.
