In the past Rolex used 7 place serials, starting with letters first in ~1987.

In 2010 they introduced 8 place random serial numbers/letters. Random means random.

10 numbers and 26 letters in the alphabet (and only “O” which Rolex won’t use for the avoidance of confusion).

So that leaves 35 characters to pop up in some “random” combinations.

Since letters out rank numbers by a ratio of 2.5 to 1, then there should be that many more “random” serial numbers where 2 letters are contiguous.

Math majors will eventually calculate the odds - but it isn’t that unusual methinks.

Ok thank you.
This 126600 is still in some plastic, it seems the old owner rarely worn, looks like very new.
Got it only usd.12k.

Love this baby.

It seems the old owner had difficult time to sell theRed Sea Dweller because of the serial number that start with 2 alphabets and following with 6 numerics.
I took the risk after check outside the unit.
