The watch I wanted when I was a teenager, a childhood hero of sorts. I remember seeing it in the window of my hometown AD, next to the Sub Date 16610ln, thinking to myself "wow, the SD is technically so superior to the Sub (water resistance) and yet it looks so similar, how's that even possible?". My reason for not getting its successor the 116600 was the size, I find 40mm too small for a diver or a sports watch on my average 18.5cm/7.2in wrist. So I picked the SD43 instead which to me is perfect. The 16600 is a fantastic piece though, no doubt about that.

The 16600 is perhaps one of the finest Rolexes ever made.

Bought an unworn M serial in Portland, OR (no tax) from Alex at WatchWorks for $5k in 2010.

Gifted it to my wife that Christmas. She loves it!
